A great way to solve this problem, is to have a few select few, who moderate the mods. Its a simple solution, that solves a lot of problems. These special mods would have no power over regular posters, just Moderators.
Simple. and elegant solution.
One of our posters just got banned.

lol it has a horrible rep. i'm at another messageboard as well and they talk **** about this one all the time. especially the moderation. the people that go overboard with modding are usually the types desperate for ANY semblance of power or those that have little in real life so use the messageboard as a fantasy realm where they can be significant

I assume Howard Mass is the Mod of Moderators and he's a-ok with tshirkin's garbage.

I bet he'll handle it internally. I doubt he puts him on blast in this thread. That's unprofessional.

I aways wondered way the fanbase over here wasant bigger (even tho I like the numbers we have now and it cuts down on bull) but now I relize why and what for.Its a shame that a bunch of posters had to make their OWN site and had to move on.

Re: One of our posters just got banned.
I got a 12 hour ban from Tsherkin for simply saying "nice name" when referring to a posters nickname. His reasons was that it was referring to the poster and not the post. Plain stupid I swear.

Just wondering if we're going to see an update, or a post from Howard on this? Some insight on the situation would be greatly appreciated.

basically what he posted is what happened or is happening. I don't know if Howard Mass can really do anything in terms of the policy's he has to follow and i'm sure there's more other sh* to deal with

Howard Mass wrote:As for the incident years ago, I remember it and while there were some things that I would have done differently, the split back then was inevitable as The users on our Detroit Pistons Forum wanted a forum that was not in line with our TOS and sounded like they wanted their own forum anyway.
There was a lot more that happened there too but I do not want to live in the past.
Since I was one of 3 Mods on this board at the time of the "incident" I just had to comment despite what may come after:
The split wasn't inevitable! We didn't want a forum that was not out of line with the TOS. What we wanted was consistent Modding across Real GM.
Part of the problem was, and IMO still is, the fact that Moderators on the Pistons forum allowed (and still do allow) people to actually engage in heated debate/discussion before any action is taken. Usually Mods here just post in the middle of the discussion and that is enough to solve the issue these days...it was usually the same back in the day
Of course back in the day the Pistons were coming off the Teal Era! Once we started to dominate the Eastern Conference things changed pretty quick! We had clowns for the Chicago and Indiana forums come in and spark things up... and it was allowed to happen because the 3 Mods could see that our members were wise to the antics and wouldn't step too far over the boundary...
and then our members got comfortable. They would venture off to the Chicago board or the Indiana board and next thing you know we've got quality posters getting banned for pretty pathetic things. Things that were "outside the TOS" but pretty pathetic just the same. The board was a lot smaller than it is now and we were a very tight group.... and the suspensions/bans just lit a fuse that no one could control.
For whatever reason the Mods on those other forums were stricter - likely because they had dealt with a lot of trolls due to their dominance at the top of the East and didn't want to endure it from Piston fans....so they were quick on the trigger.... while the 3 Detroit Mods were left to run around and find out why a certain poster was banned, then work to over-turn that ban, then report it back to the board... it didn't take long before the majority got tired of it
Next thing you know a Real GM user floated the idea about starting another Detroit forum... the majority agreed it was a good idea... I even PM'd some of the quality posters who were "slow" in moving across...Yes, I abused my position as Mod to influence members of Real GM to bail... it is what it is... and before long this place was pretty much empty... even the quality posters that didn't leave for the new site left Real GM behind (bstein14)... we still call Real GM "TOS" (that other site) FWIW
The past is the past, that much I agree with. But if we choose not to learn from it then we're bound to repeat it!
Since my return a few months ago I've read of 3 Detroit posters being banned or suspended... 3 threads created questioning the ban/suspension.. how many does it take?
