i wasn't expecting this. Looks like theres a lot of protection on the picks, but chicago save a lot of money and will be big time players come the offseason.
I would have loved to turn Smith into Deng, but obviously that wasn't an option.
Cleveland better hope they can resign Deng or else they'll look stupid.

We don't want Dumars to trade Stuckey+ for Boozer, do we?

Jennings
Smith
Boozer
Monroe
Drummond

Add Dunleavy as throw in. And he becomes our starting point!

In related news, I heard Deng declined a 3 year 30mil extension so he's gonna be expensive.

Rumors are that Deng's camp wants a deal in the $15-16 mil per neighborhood.

Lmao good luck with that. I predict he'll settle with 12 mil/year this offseason.

That pick was a valuable asset and they're really going to be missing it in a couple years when Deng is long gone and they could have had an extra likely lottery pick.

Its really heavily protected and actually turns into a second rounder after 3 years or something like that. I think it was a fair risk to take for the Cavs. Although, they are now stuck in mediocrity along with us. Hopefully this trade propels them past us in the standings and gives us a better chance at retaining our pick this year.

Every player starts with a ridiculously high ceiling. Remember Jennings wanting 12mil? and Smith wanting the max? Deng will get around 12-13mil at most.

So does Bynum end up with Miami as well? I bet he does.

That would round out their collection of jack asses. Maybe Cleveland could facilitate Varejao to Miami to complete the collection.

He always seems injury prone. I'd want no part of that deal.

Like I said in an earlier post. The Bulls are semi-tanking or rebuilding/tweaking their roster a bit so they can have the money to make a run for Carmelo. There's no other explanation.

You guys want to keep it down? You might wake Joe.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I wonder if the Cavs will try to flip Deng before the deadline.

Tell me about it, every year he waits for the deadline to come and go so his phone will stop disturbing his eating and naps. He's a busy man.

You guys are missing the point of tugs move. Bynum was a dust contract. They waive him and get lower on the LT. We couldn't offer that.

I bet no one calls Dumars. He's the weird kid nobody likes.

Haters gonna hate

If Dumars traded KCP and 2 1st rd picks or the oppertunity to pay Deng 16mil a yr I would be ready to fire him. However most here want to fire Dumars for not making the trade. Honestly you would trade Drummond and Monroe for Deng?

You guys do know that Smith is actualy a better 3pt shooter than Deng?

Not sure how anyone feels like the boat was missed on Deng?

Dumars can't even trade a first round pick unless he guarantees it relatively far out (which is always a bad idea). I wouldn't give up 3 future picks to rent Deng for half a season. What Deng will provide Cleveland in the short term may pale in comparison to whatever players those 3 picks yield.

Detroit simply doesn't have the assets that Chicago were interested in. You know, "good assets".

Pistons had no shot at Deng. Detroit is in a bad situation. Unless you wanted to move Moose in a three way, Deng wasn't coming here.
