Yes, let us focus our offense on Josh Smith, the guy who's been historically bad offensively this year.

Good plan.

Josh Smith was a good 4. He defends well at that position. Pistons need to defend. If they defended, they could get out in transition...where no front court in the league would be able to keep up with Drummond/Smith.

...and Jennings is a net negative. He should be someone's 6th man...but the Pistons already have enough ball dominant, low IQ 6th men.

If you want a good laugh check out the raptors thread. 50% of their messages are about how much Drummond sucks. Like a midget making fun tall guys.

Josh Smith WAS a good 4. About 3 years ago. Last year he ranked 47th in wins produced per 48 among power forwards last season. His abysmal offense (three straight years of .501 or less TS%) is now no longer masked by any sort of defensive prowess, as that has also been in decline for the past 3 seasons.

So he's an awful offensive player who's getting worse defensively. And we just signed him to a 4 year deal. Because reasons.

I'm starting to think a top 5 pick is in possible for us. Once Smith and Jennings spirits our broken and official quit we should start to free fall, if we haven't already...

KCP was on fire in the first half- he went 6 of 8 for 13 points yet did not get a single shot attempt in the 2nd half. Instead of feeding the hot hand, in the 2nd half Jennings went 3 of 9, Stuckey went 1 of 4, Bynum went 2 of 6.

We have too many shoot first Gs that think they are better scorers than they are. Jennings had 8 of his 9 assists in the first half, and had 1 assist in the 2nd. It looks like he got tired of playing as a PG and just said F that and started chucking up jumpers.

Most the time people on the Raptors board are upset that Ross was drafted over Drummond...they're only bashing Drummond cause the Raptors blew the Pistons out last night.

We're aware, Raps fans have made it painfully obvious. Some of them still talk about Drummond like he should still be on the Raptors.

Losing 9 out of 10 games isn't a free fall in your book?

This was my first full game look at DET.

KCP was much better than expected at both ends just based on watching boxscores and reading your board.

You clearly have enough talent to be a .500 team but the pieces don't fit well and Cheeks has struggled as a coach everywhere he has been. Definitely not the right hire.

Josh Smith looks horrible. Really bad handle, shot selection has been an issue for years but seems to have more freedom in DET making it worse.

You have good athletes and run the floor well but for some reason look like a low energy club. Some of that is on Cheeks who is a low energy guy himself. Pistons look explosive on the break at times but then low energy most other times. That really stood out to me.

If the Raps were using Val the way the Pistons are using Drummond the TOR board would implode. He got 1 post up opportunity that he backed down JV and dunked and I dont' recall any other touches in the post. Monroe, JSmith, and Drum all need low post touches so the rotation needs major work or a trade needs to happen.

DET also need a 3pt bomber badly. Ideally a starter. Korver would be a better fit than Josh. Novak in the short term off the bench would be a big help.

Free throw shooting and 3's were the difference in the game. Teams are closer than final score indicated. Raptor quick ball movement is amazing. Stark contrast to Pistons O. Bball IQ of the 2 teams looked far apart. Cheeks has no control.

This year should have been a development year for Drummond as you get one last high lotto pick. Then make the vet additions next year to start the playoff push. In my opinion you need to trade Josh ASAP. If you can't find the right player in a trade just get shorter contracts and moveable pieces in return and eventually get the cap space back in a year or so. Raps got out of a horrible Hedo signing fairly easily.

I think you can get Jennings under control with a better wing option beside him and playing more inside out ball.

Ross has been playing great ball since the trade. Hovering around 50% from 3 and playing great on-ball D.

Generally, the coaching staff has to take blame for that. They have to communicate which scheme they want against PNR. If it has been communicated, and Andre just isn't executing, then he is a massive defensive liability.

I said "if we haven't already." That means we very well could be considered to be in free fall.
