Actually, how it works is that I weight the pros and cons of both players and decide between the two. And I favor Monroe. People are allowed to favor Smith but this is a page for ALL Detroit Piston fans so naturally we're going to have large discussions about this. Sometimes they get too heated but the general thought is that we're all here because we're fans of the team first and players second. I am not so much a "Smith doubter" so much as I am a "I think Smith is hurting this team and would still be not very good at PF." Q00 believes otherwise. We are on a forum where we are going to discuss such things.

Wow,thanks for enlighting me about the board that ive been posting on everyday since I signed up.My post was directed at Q for the sole reason that him and I usually are defending smith constantly. But thanks for the opinion.

And I'm saying that Q00 can engage whoever he wants in discussion, and to dismiss the other side as "in one ear and out the other" is pretty much a complete misrepresentation of the actual discussion being had.

Overall though I really liked the lineups and the amount of minutes each player got tonight. This is the gameplan Cheeks needs to start looking into more.

Adding the word "please" after "shut the **** up" doesn't make any sense. And I wouldn't argue he was fantastic. Good game for him, yeah, but "fantastic" is a stretch.

Josh's efficiency tonight was a joke. 8 of 23 from the field and 2 of 8 from three? Lol, he'
almost shot us out of this game. That being said, you live with him for this game because he had a positive impact on defense, rebounding and passing, which has been very rare this season.

Still, he needs to have the discipline to stop chucking. He isn't good enough offensively to shoot 20+times. Cheeks needs to nut up and reign him in. If Josh would focus on defense, rebounding and passing more often and leave the shooting to someone else there wouldn't be so much disdain for him and we would win more games. Thats all fans are asking for.

The fact that he had to have an extraordinary game as far as his rebounding/assists/steals/blocks goes to make up for his lousy offense is galling. Josh has the talent, its clearly there but the man is dumb as rocks, which is why he's such a frustrating player to watch.

The positive of this game is that Cheeks seems to have realized that 2 bigs + shooters is the way to go instead of playing Smith/Monroe/Drummond together all game long.

Yep, Josh was huge but he shouldn't be putting up so many shots a night. He and Jennings should both be shooting 10-15 times a night each

Even as a PF in Atlanta, this is how Josh played. He almost lives and die by his jumper or he goes for a two drible off balance drive to the lane using his brute strength. Look for this, it's almost his staple. That's all his offense ever was.

His post game is similar to Dwight Howard, it's very robotic looking and nowhere near as complete or "smooth" as Monroe's. This is why his post up game is pretty ineffective and why Melo looked like he guarded him well all night on that NYK game.

They were talking about Smith shooting all those threes on gametime. Basically saying if it were against another team he probably would have lost us the game. Dude had a great game but why the **** can't he stay away from that 3 ball? A couple attempts per game is fine. If he limited it then Hes 3 point shooting could be a asset and not a disease.

yeah, when over 1/3 of your teams total shots are being taken by two guys who are well below league average efficiency wise, its not a good thing. when one of them is a defensive sieve and the other is a lazy moron who only comes to play once every couple of weeks, its even worse.

Q00 wrote:^ @HK.. who knows, that's why they should try it to find out. Its not just about how he will produce by himself, its about how the team as a whole functions. I think it makes our defense better because it keeps him in the paint more, where we can take advantage of his shotblocking skills, as opposed to wasting them with him chasing guys around the perimeter at SF. Also makes our perimeter defense better because whoever takes over at SF will likely be better defending the 3 ball.

His shot blocking with us is the same exact per game as it was as PF in Atlanta.

Wow what a surprise. We play 2 out of our 3 bigs at a time instead of one at the 3 spot, and lo and behold we play better. Who would have thought????

Rhetorical question. The answer is everyone aside from the Pistons organization.
