I also was thinking about that Gordon for Smith swap today before I read this thread. It just makes so much sense. I think NO loves Aminu though so I don't know if they'd be willing to give him up. Maybe something simpler like Smith/Singler+2nd for Gordon.

Keep Singler, I love that kids game.

I like Singler too, but that might just be the sweetener they'd need to take on the extra year.

id rather send Stuckey to a 3rd team and have them give N.O. a sweetener. if we trade Singler it would leave us with 0 NBA caliber small forwards on the roster, which means KCP would be forced to play heavy SF minutes, and I don't think that would be the best thing for his development. id rather trade Stuck and run mostly a 3 guard rotation of BJ/Gordon/KCP, with Chauncey filling in the gaps.

This is honestly the most realistic scenario. A fair swap would get it done because salaries are almost even. They clear their guard logjam, we clear our pf logjam. Both teams achieve a nicer balance.

If it goes through we can still swing cv/stuckey for a SF, however we get better regardless.

It is unlikely smith gets moved however, he's Joe Dumars guy, and if thats the case Joe Dumars will get the pink slip because of it.

Someone asked earlier what other team's mistake we could trade for that might be better. This is the only solution I could think of, and I'm still not sure they'd do it.

I don't like the idea of KCP losing minutes, I want to see him get close to 30 per game if not more.

If we're trying to improve this team now we need to improve spacing. Making sure the shooting guard who can't find his shot has 30 minutes per game isn't a way to do that.

This team desperately needs to improve its outside shooting, and the 2 happens to be the easiest place to find that improvement.

Give him rotational minutes off the bench (they don't need to be massive as long as they're consistent) and hope he's ready to take over when Gordon's deal is up in a couple years.

Not good at putting up links, but there's an interesting article in the Free Press today regarding the possibility of swapping Smith with Singler in the line up.

Unfortunately it just looks like they're parroting an opinion piece by Pistons Powered. There's no indication that the coach intends to do anything of the sort.

KCP shot 38% from 3 last month and is scorching the past 3 games in January. It's about touches more than anything else.

KCP has been lighting it up lately , its been very irritating watching him play so well in the first half then get no touches in the second.

KCP is shooting 39.6% from 3 in 53 attempts since the beginning of December, it may only be a 20 game stretch but it's clear that he has improved and at 20 years old I can't imagine him not continuing to do so.

I don't think the Pelicans do this deal anyway, they need a center to play next to Davis and when he plays the 5 they already have Anderson getting big minutes at the 4.

Gotta keep Singler as he would be our short term small forward.

Solid 1st Q today! Let's send Josh flying!!!

Josh Smith to the Bobcats
for
MKG and Ben Gordon's expiring

Josh Smith to the Raptors
for
John Salmons (1 mil guaranteed next year) and Landry Fields (can be done after Feb. 10 due to Salmons' trade restriction)

Josh Smith to the Cavaliers
for
Jarret Jack and Anthony Bennett (and maybe Dion Waiters, if possible?)(I'm running out of inspiration)

Josh Smith to the Bucks
for
Caron Butler (expiring), Ekpe Udoh (expiring) and Nate Wolters

Josh Smith to the Grizzlies
for
Former Piston Tayshun Prince and Courtey Lee (can be done in the summer, due to Lee's trade restriction)

Ok, maybe some of these fake trades are not that good, but I love trying to get rid of him.

I believe Josh Smith was signed to put butts on seats and to help us grow up a little bit... after all Smith has plenty of playoff experience and should be known to most casual basketball fans.

He'll serve his purpose... which is keeping us on the treadmill Joe has chosen until Drummond and Monroe puts it all together. The drama is we're worse than anticipated and could miss the playoffs... which I'm sure wasn't part of the plan.

We're 25th in attendance. The butts are not finding the seats.
