Dont forget we traded a lottery pick this year in order to sign Josh Smith in the first place.

But all sarcasm aside, we're not getting out of this roller coaster as long as Commander Smith and his Lieutenant Jennings continue to play their ball, regardless of position. They are the definition of being consistent at being inconsistent. I honestly think tanking might be the better option rather than get 8th seed and get destroyed utterly by the Heat and losing our pick.

That way, we (hopefully) get a new GM, that tries to undo the mistake Dumars has done this summer and the summer of 2012 (Gordon trade) and go from there. I think our rookies and young guys, we keep and put them in evaluation mode too see who to trade or not.

At 42 games in we have the exact same record as last season, with a "better" roster. Sadly, Dumars went out and found somebody that could make Lawrence Frank look good.

There's no trade that's going to fix this team. Dumars and Cheeks need to be removed like a tumor from this team this summer. This team isn't going anywhere while they're in those key positions.

1) Its way too early to know so much about next years draft.

2) The depth of this years draft is overstated. If we get a top 3 pick of course we'd be better off, but thats unlikely.

3) The pick is only top one protected next year, meaning we basically lose it no matter what, barring a miracle.

This can only end one way: with us losing something pretty damn valuable. I'm still in a state of utter disbelief that the deal was made, and that what we're seeing right now is what we got out of it.

As painful as losing the pick would be, it may ultimately be for the best.

You and I know exactly what is gonna happen.

Smith and Jennings will play out of their mind in an effort to make the playoffs.

We will miss the 8th seed, miss out on the 2014 pick, and hopefully that will be enough to finally get rid of Dumbasss and Mo Ron Cheeks

Sadly, we don't need anyone to "play out of their minds" to lose our pick.

The conference is THAT bad. If things ended today we'd be sitting on the 11th pick, short of moving up, of course. The odds of moving up and keeping our pick would be just south of 3%.

The real problem right now (if you're of the mind of wanting to keep your pick) is that not only are there 6 teams in the east still somehow worse than us, but there's a group of 4 teams out west that are really bottoming out at the moment too. We need to be leapfrogged by a minimum 3 teams to be in the 8th spot, and even then there would be a nearly 20% chance of losing the pick!

Too late to tank? I mean Milwaukee, Orlando, Utah, Philly and Sacramento will finish behind us. Boston and NOLA probably do as well - possibly the Lakers as well if Kobe decides to take the year off to recover completely. And then we have to hope the Knickerbockers and Cavs actually try to win this year - Cavs will unabashedly tank like they've done before and Knicks are just a bad team who could hope lottery balls bounce their way and that the NBA would want a top three pick in the big apple (wink, wink).

Dumars and Cheeks know their jobs are on the line. If Dumars isn't re-signed/extended, Cheeks knows he's likely gone. So there is no chance for a full scale tank, and we're good enough just to get the 9th-14th seed in the **** East.

Pistons are not out-tanking a good 7-10 teams as it seems everyone is tanking while most of those bad teams are much worse than Detroit. Hence, Pistons will be picking 8-10th again which doesn't guarantee jack crap accept possibly getting another Monroe, Knight or KCP. Thus, just a wasted season to obtain a talent they could just as easily pick up via Free Agency.

Hence, Tanking is not an option at this point.

1 win better, future looks dark though.

At least last year our future looked like it was trending upwards.

We definately seem to be in the worst position possible.

Best case we make the playoffs as a 7th or 8th seed and get swept out of the first round.

Worst case we end up 9th or 10th in the conference and lose our pick.

Through my job I do a lot of fundraising events(Childrens Leukemia Foundation, March of Dimes, etc). Coming up in February we are doing something with Camp Casey at the Palace where we volunteer to dress up as Cowboys/Cowgirls, sell some raffle tickets or something and for doing this we get free parking, 4 free tickets and 4 free tickets to a future game. So far I have found 1 volunteer.

The Pistons are literally giving tickets away...and I can't find anybody to take them, even though it will give Camp Casey a sizeable grant and help them raise money.

When we do the 50/50 raffle at Red Wings games (get to stay and watch last 2 periods for free) I typically have no problems getting volunteers.

This is pathetic. Just thought I'd share. :-)
