Kevin Durant

Post#1 » by tradez401 » Fri Jan 31, 2014 10:55 pm

I know what im about to say is by a long shot but the pistons should really consider on targeting kevin durant in 2016. If we can get rid of bad contracts, clean out the front office with a new gm and head coach, n save up cap in 2 years we might have a chance. Although we'll need a superstar to get durants attention we already have a very good frontcourt of moose/drummond and that should def attract him. I've read gores and his boys are in town maybe their talking about making this a plan but who knows.

This is as ridiculous as people saying we can net Chris Paul last year or getting Bosh and to a lesser extent Melo.

Nobody wants to play here when we're unintentionally tanking with 2 chuckers on our team fighting to be the number 1 option. If they were gone and replaced with someone better, then maybe we may have a sliver of a chance.

Only chance we have of landing a big FA would be if Dre turned into a superstar caliber player like a young Dwight Howard. If Dre was leading us to the 2nd round of the playoffs this year putting up 16 and 13 with great defense and we won 50 games... we would have a chance at landing a quality FA to play here.

But as is, the only way we can get FA's to come here is to overpay... Even Smith was considered to be the 4th or 5th best FA last summer and we had to pay him more than he was worth to get him here. He might have a tradable contract at 4 years $40 million but no one wants to pay him $56 million over 4.

Kevin Durant isn't dumb enough to sign with the Pistons, and even if he were he's probably got enough people around him to prevent him from making that kind of career mistake.

The only chance the Pistons have in landing a top tier player is by Trade only ala Sheet. Pistons got lucky with Smooth because no other team was offering more than what the Pistons offered.

Never going to happen. There's literally zero incentive for him to come to Detroit, much less leave OKC.

Detroit had a hard time attracting Smith not to mention a high caliber player like KD. We need to be constant playoff contestants before ANY big name wants to come to motown. Or maybe find a way to go back to the old days where we won without a big superstar and instead had players that did their job on the court magnificently and were all part of a well oiled machine like the 2004 team.

Return to Detroit Pistons
