bottom line, dude is a borderline all star when you are able to play to his strengths. he would be a great fit in charlotte...

Agree with you but he's getting mad to all the Pistons' fans with his horrible decisions in the court, he never has played like this, with that non-stop shooting mentality. He's an horrible fit here but, agree with you, if Drummond wasn't here, I loved a paint with Smith-Monroe couple. I thinked about that, about the options of trade Drummond for an elite outside scorer, but there isn't too many options out there.

Something based around Smith and one of bynum, CV, Jerebko for Vasquez, Novak and Fields would work.

Toronto fan and i'd take Josh Smith but only if this was the deal offered

Josh Smith+2014 1st round pick (top 10 protected in 2014 & 2015, top 5 protected in 2016 & unprotected in 2017) for Hayes, Fields & Novak+2 NY second rounders & 1 Sacramento second rounder.

Hayes and Fields expire next year which frees up 13 million in cap space for you guys. Novak gives you a 3pt shooter+ you get 3 future second rounders. We get Josh Smith's bad contract and in return for his contract, 3 second rounders & cap space we get a pick outside the lottery.

Long shot and wishful thinking would be correct.

But to say the Bobcats would have no interest is wrong. The problem is Joe Dumars if anything.

This is my version of the deal:

CHA Out: MKG, Ben Gordon
CHA In: Josh Smith/Caron Butler

Why for Charlotte:
They're trying to make the playoffs and this trade makes them a top 3 defensive team while bolstering their bench. MKG has been a huge disappointment and will not fit with Kemba/Al Jeff/Henderson. One of the non-shooters has to go and its MKG IMO.

MIL Out: Caron, Gary Neal
MIL IN: Ben Gordon

Why? They're tanking. They don't want Neal. They get out of his contract by being a 3rd party.

Det Out: Josh Smith:
Detroit in: MKG, Neal

Why? They get a Shooter in Neal and get rid of Josh Smith. They also can see if they can salvage MKG's confidence.

I would see Cho jumping all over that. He's not getting anybody in free agency and MJ is itching to win.

I HATE Josh Smith on the Pistons and we don't have the culture to get him to stop doing what he's doing. All our guys are young and aren't born leaders. Bobcats have Kemba and Al Jeff who WILL supersede Josh in the pecking order. Josh will be the 3rd option by default because the Bobcats are actually winning and Clifford isn't a doormat.

Cho is an advanced stats guy, he even built his own database to rank players.

http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/20 ... -database/

I wonder how Smith ranks in Cho's database?

MKG has not been a huge disappointment. We knew his shot was broken. What he has done was become our defensive leader at the age of 21. With him we're a top 6 defensive team (and that's including Al Jefferson); during the time he was out we struggled badly on D and fell out of the top 10.

Josh Smith on the Bobcats would actually fit with their defensive juggernaut philosophy. Clifford made them almost into the Bulls like territory. And every shot can just go to Kemba/Henderson/Al anyways.

So Smith would just defer to other players? LOL! When has he ever deferred to other players?

I don't care to take Smith on at all. He doesn't fit the criteria that Cho laid out for what he looks for in players (high character, consistency, strong work ethic) and his salary would be detrimental in making any moves in the future.

A possible trade with Toronto would be Smith + Datome for Hayes, Salmons, + Novak.

^ No Salmons. I think the only trade that Toronto should consider is Fields, Hayes and Novak because Smith's contract is just too long. But there has to be more incentive for Toronto.

Interesting. Toronto could use a solid PF and Josh would be a good fit there at that position. Amir is good, but is more of a backup. That team would be sick with:

Lowry
Derozen
Ross
Josh

take out MKG and you increase the odds of us taking Josh Smiths contract from 0% to 2% in this trade
