If Smith stays hot these next 2 games, will Joe D trade him?

Post#1 » by Dre Drummond » Sun Feb 9, 2014 3:28 pm

Lets pretend Smith plays well these next 2 games before the all-star break and we win both against San Antonio and Cleveland and we're sitting 8th seed 1/2 game back from the 7th seeded Brooklyn.

Does Joe D realize that its fools gold with Smith and trade him to balance out our roster... Or does he fall for the fools gold and keep smith because we went on a little 4 game win streak going into the all-star break? If Smith puts up 5 great games going all-star break another GM MIGHT take notice and decide to roll the dice on Smith.

Feb 5 Against ORL 11-19 shooting 25 Pts 12 Reb 3 Ast
Feb 7 Against BKN 9-16 shooting 23 Pts 8 Reb 7 Ast 4 Blk
Feb 8 Against DEN 14-27 shooting 30 Pts 10 Reb 8 Ast 4 Stl

Two more solid games against the Spurs and Cavs before the all-star break could mean Joe D gets some calls on Smith... lets just hope he makes the right decision.

He will just fall in love with him. I must say though if Monroe can bring back players we need then trade him. Smith won't bring back any value. We need shooters and defenders more then we need two centers.

Whether Dumars realizes that its fools gold or not is irrelevant.

Every other GM will, and we wont be able to deal him regardless.

If reports are true (which I hope that they are) then the FO is realizing that Smith is a mistake, I dont doubt that there is atleast 1 GM out there who thinks that Smith will be an upgrade at PF for them.

Other GM's won't dismiss Smith's previous nine years over a few games this season. Everyone realizes how good he can be if he had a higher BBALL IQ. They also won't ignore the large contract he has. Smith isn't getting traded, all those articles are speculation without any fact.

I don't think we will move Smith or Monroe. I'd be ok with not trading either if we can play two at a time after the first few minutes of the first and third quarters. If we make a trade I think it will be expirings, Jonas, will.

If we do trade one of the big three I think it will be Greg Monroe for the various reasons I've stated in previous threads.

I agree but I would not be sad to see Smith gone. I hope I see Monroe off the bench too. My dream sl of Drummond, Smith, Singler, KCP, & Jennings might finally be a go!

I don't think we trade any of the big 3. Maybe a minor trade (Stuckey, CV, Mitchell, Siva) for a shooter.

this.

i can't see joe making any desperation moves involving smith or monroe. maybe if the right offer came that blew him away, but i don't see it happening.
if we can get any kind of value for stuckey, bynum, jerebko, etc. then we need to do it asap. maybe we can work some kind of trade with the bobcats involving stuckey and their late 1st rounder from portland...

anyways, let smith build his value up with consistent production and a year shorter contract. hold out on offers for monroe until the right one comes along. maybe there will be a team in the lottery that goes all out after monroe...
