Just took me 20 tries in the ESPN Lottery simulator to get the 3rd pick. We'd look a lot better with Jabari Parker :-)

Don't worry about not knowing whether or not to root for the tank. Our season ending is going to be against a lot of good teams fighting for home court. We won't too many games this second half. The tank is real, even if detroit doesn't know it yet.

but maybe that's best, because I'm not convinced they won't have to send them a 2-6 pick next year if they somehow kept it this year.

Great point. There's always inflated optimism that the things can happen in the off-season that will fix everything. Look what happened this last summer- it didn't improve the team at all, and tied up a lot of salary for the next 4 years in Smith.

This team could conceivably be worse next year.

Seven teams are in full on tank and we cannot "catch".

Milwaukee
Orlando
Sacto
Boston
Philly
LAL
Utah

Kobe ain't coming back this season, and that huge contract extension he signed was in part to keep him from coming back this season. They're going to trade Pau for nothing, and outright tank to get a top five pick this year to then put beside Kobe next season.

So at best we could tank to the 8th spot, but will have to contend with Atlanta who looks ready to go all in on an unapologetic tank (they've been injured all year and overachieved to this point), NYK who can't get anything going no matter how hard they try to win given they don't own their pick, and even the Pellies.

Only chance we do have is winning the friggin' lottery from 9-10th spot.

My fear is they get 7-8 pick this year which ends up being just an ok pick, then they have to give up a 2-3 pick next year. In my mind that's the potential catastrophe. Not missing the playoffs and giving them a 9-11 pick this year.

Who knows what this offseason brings. It could be disastrous.

And if Drummond gets injured next season? Ohhhhh boy. That's all it would take.

Sacramento doesn't seem to be trying to tank. They're throwing out offers for Rondo. Boston and Utah are still at least competitive. LA and Phi are the most dead set tankers right now. We can get our pick back especially with our team looking like they've just menatally lost it and our remaining schedule is real tough. Not to mention we play just as bad as all these other bottom feeders.

Too bad Parker or Wiggins aren't from Detroit, I guess our only hope is finding a "make a wish" kid to wear a Pistons bow tie on lotto night.

For everyone who says we aren't bad enough to get the 8th pick... all we need is for Cleveland and NY to be better than us as we'd have the 8th pick... Two teams... one is a half game behind us and the other is one game behind us...

We could be be sitting with the 8th worst record after our next game if we lose and NY wins.
