That defense in those clips was putrid. The two offensive moves he made in those clips I bet he misses 8 out of 10 tries.(I said the same thing watching it live) I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm being realistic. I want Drummond to do well and I'm excited about him staying here, but I'll hold off on the HOF for now thank you....

I bet you he makes them 8/10 tries.

And check 3:10 of the next video.

This is nothing new. Dre has never had 0 offensive game. Guys with 0 offensive game simply cannot do those things.

And I would argue that dribbling is very indicative of a players skill level (0-skill guys cant dribble well). Drummond has way above average dribbling skills for his size.

Since 1946, only 3 players have avg better than 13 points and 13 rebounds on >60% FG in a season.

Wilt did it 3 times at ages 30, 35, and 36, Dwight did it once at 24. Drummond is on pace to be the third and is doing it at only 20 yrs old.

So yeah, if he continues producing just at this level for the next 5 years or so, I would be surprised if the Pistons didn't one day honor these historic feats by retiring his jersey. But when you realize he's only 20 and likely going to get even better than this, its easy to see why people would expect his jersey to be retired one day. Players who put up historic numbers like this don't come around often and when they do, the teams they played for generally retire their jersey's.

So its not just about having a great game against the Knicks. Its about his whole season and the liklihood of at least 6 more years of this in a Pistons jersey (as they own his rights until about 2020).

I hope it happens, I really do. I'm not going overboard yet though.

My point isn't that Andre Drummond is going to be a HOF. My point is that hes not Ben Wallace on offense, which is basically like this team treats him like.

Ben Wallace = 0 Offensive Skill ≠ Andre Drummond

I don't think saying he could have his jersey retired is even going overboard though. Its really not even a sacred honor anymore. I think teams do it now more for publicity and to draw fans than anything. If you notice it seems to be the bad teams who are doing all the jersey retiring lately. Probably just looking for a way to generate some positive press during bad years and fill the stands for a night.

So saying Drummond could have his jersey retired isn't saying he's going to the HOF. Its more just a team honor for a fan favorite, which Drummond is.

Granted its against high school competition, but watch some of Dre's old highlights. He's got some handles for a guy his body type. Some of the moves he put on guys look like a SF. There's several tapes of him going coast to coast or breaking ankles in the open floor. He's already putting up historic numbers and may only be scratching the surface.
