Question for the smart people.

Post#1 » by Southern Piston » Thu Mar 6, 2014 12:45 am

Can we trade Monroe for Andrew Wiggins if other players are involved to make salaries work. Also we can take on salary in trades this summer after Stuckey, and DNP CV are officially off the roster.

Can I please have whatever you're smoking/drinking? Haha

All jokes aside most certainly not. Wiggins is a lock for a top 3 pick and while Monroe is a productive player and quite valuable in the right system, due to his defensive limitations and the fact he will command a near max deal, if we dealt Monroe for a bad contract and high draft pick I doubt we could get any picks below #8 maybe even #10

We'll just trade Monroe for Wiggins and KCP/Singler/future 1st for Parker

Drummond/Parker/Wiggins

Problems all solved.

Is it possible? Yes.

Is it likely the other team considers such a deal? Not really...

it is possible, as in, it's legal within the rules. But in reality, no.

The OP has been a member here longer than you, Clarity... so I can fully understand the correlation.

The answer is "yes".

but unless Detroit gives up a first round pick, both Drummond and Monroe, and Monroe signs for a bargain, no way in hell can they trade for a pick high enough to draft wiggins or parker.

No team is going to trade a top 5 pick in a deep draft just to shed salary and pick up a 16 & 9 big man that doesn't block shots and will probably have to be overpaid to stay on a team that sucked enough to earn a top 5 pick.

That's ridiculous. Wiggins is not worth Drummond and Monroe and a 1st round pick.

He's not even worth Drummond alone.

16 pts and 6 rebs on 44% FG in college does not impress after all the expectations he garnered, and I certainly wouldn't trade Drummond for that, personally. The real gem of this draft class looks to be Joel Embiid.

But I agree Wiggins is still worth a lot more than Monroe.

Don't worry, my 2nd ever thread was a similar trade on this same Pistons board and compared to the ridicule you are receiving here, I was resoundly trashed severely.

My 1st ever post was a thread entitled,"Why the hell didn't we take Bosh" (instead of Darko) of which I was brutally ridiculed beyond belief as someone smoking mad crack for not waiting for the next Wilt to develop then dominate the NBA.
