LMAO, thanks for that Monday laugh.

but yeah, i'd love Rondo but Josh still wouldnt fit on this team & the shooting in a starting lineup with the bigs, Josh & Rondo would be non existent.

Acquiring Rondo while ditching Smith & Jennings would be the ultimate. Thats the way to fix this & start winning, Rondo would focus on getting Monroe & Drummond the ball.

We're stuck with Smith for another couple of seasons.
Step one: Denial - "let's trade Smith for blahblahblah" (not blaha - though i'd take that deal in a heartbeat)
Step two: Anger - "Smith is literally the worst participant in the history of any sport on the planet at any level at any age. Dumars should be taken out back and shot. Gores should have his penis removed immeditately."
Step three: Bargaining - "Why isn't he playing power forward though?!".
Step four: Depression.
Steo five: Acceptance.

Sure, lets send Smith to Boston and reunite 'team sulk'. I'll take Green and whatever filler they have.

If Gores really wanted Smith off the team, and felt he was preventing us from winning, and couldn't trade him, he would just buy him out.

Depending on who the new GM is, that could legitimately happen if that new GM doesn't want him. Its not uncommon for GMs to take over and clean house and get their owners to buy out players left from previous regimes.

Personally I think Smith could be traded for something if they wanted to, before it would come to that. I'm also still not sold on Monroe being resigned. If Rondo/Smith want to play together, perhaps the new GM will try to make that happen here and use Monroe as his ticket.

You say that as if he wouldnt have to cough up close to 40 million dollars.

Even for Billionaires, 40 mill is a lot of cheese.

Definitely not that easy, even for an air head like Josh.

Monroe for Rondo then sign guys like Meeks and Ariza or even Tucker, possibly draft a guy like Hood if we get our pick, no reason it can't work if the right pieces are added.

He's got to pay him that much anyways, regardless if he's on the team or not. The contract is already signed. A buyout could actually save him some money, if Smith were willing to take a little less for the chance to get off this team and go play for a winner.

No way any owner would buy out a contract of that size until into the last year.

Yeah, pretty much. a bought out contract still counts against the cap, and it'd just be a plain horrible business decision to invest that much money and call it quits that quickly. Maybe he was thinking about the amnesty clause? even still, we no longer have players who qualify for the amnesty clause.

a buyout would likely save us very little money, were stuck with this awful contract. Although addition by subtraction is definitely in play so I get your point.

& its a bit of an Oxymoron that Smith would go somewhere else to win when he's a major reason we arent winning.
