Can Lance play point full time if we also ran the ball through Monroe?

I doubt Lance could be a full time point guard, but even then, let's not forget that the guy is not a good shooter. This is his best year shooting from 3 and he's only hitting 34% of his 3's. Plus he's considered a headcase. I'd don't think that we should go after him this offseason.

That is true, but we gotta take some risks. Really depends on who are front office and staff turns out to be. If gores brings in guys like Sheed and Chauncey, Id take a shot.

Do you really want another non-shooter on this team, especially a headcase? I know that he brings defense, toughness, and playmaking to the SG spot for us, but our offense needs spacing, and the easiest places to find it are at PG, SG, and SF. If we could grab Lance as some sort of 'buy low' deal, I'd be interested, but as it stands we'd already have to overpay to get him and he wouldn't be a particularly good fit. We've got other options at SG who are cheaper and/or shoot better. Give KCP another chance and he could fit the 3-D role perfectly.

SG is not my priority, personally. I'd like to roll with KCP and upgrade elsewhere first. Lowry and KCP would form a killer defensive duo at the guard spots, and if KCP finds his stroke, or perhaps just gets used properly, we could have a quality pair of floor spacers there too. Move Smith out of the SF spot and start anyone else there - Singler, Hood, Anderson, whomever - and we've got 3 guys who space the floor and excellent defenders at at least 3/5 positions. With a coach who can at least teach these guys to make their rotations properly or switch, we'd be so much better, and easier on the eyes as well.

We arent going to have much more than the MLE to spend. We can either upgrade the bench or we can get 1 good starter and fill out the bench with D league talent. This whole pipe dream of signing a max player should stop.

Somebody Granger?
Guy is good & wants to proof it
With Kander and Abdenour we have one of the best in keeping him in shape!
We ain't playing for the title the first few years, so should be oké to start at sf.
Everything is better than Smith at sf

We have 12 guys under contract for 2014-15 (Smith, Jennings, Jerebko, Bynum, KCP, Billups, Drummond, Datome, Singler, Harrellson, Mitchell, Siva) that are in line to make 42.45 million. Monroe's cap hold is ~10.2 million. Our pick (assuming it's pick 8) would be in line for about $3 million. The projected cap according to Larry Coon is $62.1 million.

If we keep our pick at 8 and everyone comes back, we'll have ~$7 million to use on a player during Monroe's 10 day window to match (we can then use Monroe's bird rights to go above his $10 mil cap hold). If we lose our pick and Chauncey retires then we'll have about $12.5 mil to use during the window.

I'm really warming up to Hayward. He's young and can shoot. I wonder how invested Utah is in him, I'd love to do a S&T of Singler, Mitchell, Jerebko, 2nds/heavily protected future 1 for Hayward.

Drummond
Monroe
Smith
Hayward
KCP
Jennings
Pick #8 BPA

There's a lot of potential there as a young top 7 group.

Hayward and Kyle O'quinn need to be our targets this summer. We can find a 2-guard through trade.

Kyle Oquinn is a good choice for a backup center. Also Agree that Hayward should be our #1 target.

If I had my way:

Lowry
or
Ariza

gotta have 3 point shooting and defense, 1-3. Period. Drumroe is here, that's the foundation.

No plan B. Don't get too creative or you'll end up with another mess like this year. Do your best to get rid of Smith & Jennings... even just for expiring contracts and a pick. Let all our expirings walk... except give Mitchell and Siva a chance.

Any other type of development is going to be in the draft.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!
