This is only true if GH is the only player avail @$12MM -- I think there are better players for our team at that price range.

Can we please get a shooter at that position!!! Our shooters cant shoot, our forwards think they can shoot and they cant shoot, our PG can barely shoot (and thats only when he gets hot).... We have a team full of players at different heights that all do the exact same thing

I would love a player that radiates confidence with his jumper rather than me thinking "oh no"

Who is better and available for $12M per?

Off the top of my head... Trevor Ariza - and he will be much cheaper than $12mm

edited*** to add Rudy Gay -- I think he would decline his player option to sign a 3 year deal

Ariza is not better and according to most around here he is too old to be a big part of our future. Isn't he around 5 years older than Hayward?

Well statisically Ariza is better - shooting, 3pt%, PER, TO, steals, reb, total shooting % - especially for the price. I totally agree that Ariza isnt a long term solution... but Hayward isn't a building block piece either (at least now). Hayward is that kind of in between player that isnt good enough at any one thing

I do think Hayward has more upside than Ariza but dont like him for 5 years when there are players like Klay Thompson, Wes Matthews, etc... coming up in 2015

We don't really have a reasonable offer in a s&t for him, KCP, Jerebko and whoever we draft would probably be about it but you never know, maybe they want to stay young until Favors, Burks, Kanter and Burke start to peak and they know what they have.

I wouldn't trade the 8 in this draft so I could over overpay Hayward. Bad contract waiting to happen.

It's unlikely we can get anybody anywhere near as good as Hayward at #8. You would rather pay Stauskus $3 million than GH $12 million? I wouldn't, should we take a poll?

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Statistically :banghead:

Hayward has been put in a position where he has to be the #1 option, his efficiency has dropped off but I would say he's done a damn good job without much help. Ariza is the 3rd or 4th option and is having a career year playing the role he was meant to play but he will be 29 this summer. GH is probably a #2 guy offensively on a good team and just turned 24 recently, at $12M per that's not much of an overpay at all. BTW, I'm not sure how much you think Ariza is going to get this summer but I bet it's at least $8M per, possibly closer to 10.
