Detroit Bad Boys has confirmed that the organization has retained the help of Jed Hughes, Vice Chairman at Korn/Ferry International, a recruiting and consultation firm with more than 3,400 employees.
The Raptors recently used Korn/Ferry to assist with the hiring of Masai Ujiri last spring. Ujiri wasted little time cleaning up predecessor Bryan Colangelo's mistakes, helping the Raptors climb from the Atlantic Division basement to first place in just one season.
Hughes, who received a PhD at the University of Michigan, once served as a linebacker coach under Bo Schembechler.
I think this comment here nailed my opinion of the article.
We all know Tom Gores is not some basketball expert (and fortunately, he seems to realize that he isn’t).
When you get an owner who is not a basketball expert and doesn’t realize it, the New York Knicks happen.

Progress can only be made if you realize your own faults and start there. That said, it is still Gores' decision (even with all the consulting) to hire the next GM of the Pistons. He can still screw things up, but I am not displeased with the process that is taking place here. There's a reason he has a ton of money, however let's see if those same reasons can bring back some relevancy and prestige to this organization. He may have cooled down from his "win now" mantra from last year, and is thinking with a clear head. Time will tell soon enough.
