Yes.
Obviously the draft is a crap shoot but I don't see any elite talent at the 8th position. Thibs is an elite coach and it's not that easy to duplicate what he does. Anyone saying that it's a "scheme" or that we could get the same production from his assistants is silly. If that was true then the NBA would have a ton more great coaches. More often then not Ast. Coaches end up flaming out, not suceeding in the NBA. The only way that the Pistons are going to have a great coach is if they trade for one because no one wants to come after the numerous coaches we've burned through.
Would you trade the 8th pick for Thibodeau?

It depends on the length of his current contract... if it's only two years remaining then NO... he could easily get frustrated and move on to greener pastures..

It would need to be longer than a two year commitment.
He would have more of an impact than the #8 pick.
We already have talent on this team - they need to learn how to play team D (Thibs specialty) and be smarter on offense (better % shots, where to run the offense).
This all being said, I'd like to think we can get a good coach (George Karl, Stan Van Gundy, etc) without giving up a pick.

From what I've read we could have hired SVG IF we were willing to give him power over personnel decisions!
I understand why that wasn't put on the table but...if we hire clowns I'll be extremely pissed
