Lets get Shaun Livingston
You would think he would listen if we offered him a starting job. He doesn't want to resign w/ Brooklyn and be behind Deron Williams another year.
Send Jennings to the 6th man role. According to twitter, Jennings favorite player is Jamal Crawford. so maybe Brandon could see the value in being the first guy off the bench. A Jennings/Livingston backcourt could possibly work with Shaun guarding the 2's.
Plus we got a great medical team here. Livingston could see Detroit as an interesting option.

Detroit should probably look for a long term solution if the team plans to supplant Jennings. There's a rumor floating around that the Sixers are interested in trading MCW. It's him if I'm to take an over-sized point guard that can't shoot. I'm not completely hostile to the idea as long as he's young, and can play some sort of defense. It's worth a pause though.

Re: Lets get Shaun Livingston
I'd be interested in him at SF. He's not really a PG anymore (at least that's not where he's been succeeding in Brooklyn).
He has the body of a SF anyways. He kind of reminds me of what Daye could've been had he been able to handle the ball without turning it over.

Re: Lets get Shaun Livingston
Livingston has been a nice player for the Nets. But, he definitely hasn't played like a guy who demands a starters salary and position.
I'd rather just go the extra mile, and try to lock up Kyle Lowry on a 4-year $44 million deal, and get a versatile PG who can score, defend and distribute that has the athleticism to guard elite point guards.
Note- I'm not super-high on Lowry. But, I'm higher on him than Livingston and the contract his agent would likely demand to bring him to Detroit. He would probably want something like 3 years/18 million guaranteed.

I'm pretty sure he's happy in Brooklyn. I can't see him leaving.
Even Lowry will be hard to convince to leave Toronto. He's going to command a lot of money, and he might not be worth it to us.

Re: Lets get Shaun Livingston
Livingston can't really shoot and doesn't ever choose to, and he's been playing his best ball in these crazy small-ball lineups with a ton of extra shooters and ballhandlers. I don't know if he'd be as successful here as he was with the Nets. I'd certainly look into him, but Lowry remains the priority IMO, or I think he should be.
Also, no to MCW-he won't come that cheap and he still isn't good anyways. ROY or not, the guy shoots as badly as Josh Smith, turns the ball over more than any starting PG in this league and like I figured, can't play defense despite his size.

The chances of getting Lowry about nil somehow you think Toronto is a capped team they aren't and they will resign Lowry unless it goes to Max money which I doubt. Toronto more than willing to give him 48 for 4 if needed.
Livingston is a very good player who has never got paid because of a early injury and Brooklyn can only pay him the maximum of $2.8 million or whatever the luxury cap middle level exemption is. I would love him being the Raptors back-up PG since he brings intangibles in that he is a tremendously smart player and Brooklyn's best and most consistent player for much of the year.

Re: Lets get Shaun Livingston
Darren Collison and keep Jennings here. Collison as starter and Jennings as sixth man. Too many teams play with 2 guards, we can't because our guards sucks. Collison/Jennings/KCP is a good rotation for the 1/2. Draft James Young. S&T Monroe and a second round for Ryan Anderson. That team could be great.

I don't think that the Raptors are capped, I just think that Masai knows what Lowry is worth and won't overypay him too much. If we offer him a ton of money, we can get him.cammac wrote:Notanoob wrote:Livingston can't really shoot and doesn't ever choose to, and he's been playing his best ball in these crazy small-ball lineups with a ton of extra shooters and ballhandlers. And again, double-taxation is a thing. He only has to pay one government in Detroit. I'm hardly counting on signing him, but you don't need to show up every time he's mentioned on the Pistons board to say that there's no way he leaves the Raptors.

You keep talking about double taxation and obviously you know nothing about it not one player who left ever talked about it. Yes some talked about the kids learning the metric system and the USA is the only hold out in the world but Canadians know both.

I think it's more likely the Raptors let Vasquez walk then Lowry.
Vasquez is restricted, Lowry isn't....Raps can survive without Vasquez but probably take massive heat if Lowry walks

Re: Lets get Shaun Livingston
How many times do people say "I left because I get more money here" or "I came to this state because of its nicer taxes"? Almost no one admits to that. But I think that we all know that NBA players care about how much money they are getting, and paying taxes to the US and Canada is going to make a contract with the Raptors worth less compared to an identical contract with a US based team.cammac wrote:You keep talking about double taxation and obviously you know nothing about it not one player who left ever talked about it. Anyways, this doesn't really matter-I just hope that we'll sign Lowry, because he's a very good player and what the Pistons have been missing at PG since we traded Chauncey. I have nothing against the Raptors at all.

I like Vasquez, any time he's in the game people like to talk about how competitive he is and how he brings it every play. He's a good shooter and a pretty high IQ/passing guard. At times he can play off ball too which is attractive for us since we'll most likely still have Jennings on the roster. It makes for a lot of different lineup possibilities.
I like Shaun Livingston but I could see the Nets wanting to keep him because he's been starting at the offguard but then he's capable of running the point while Williams works off ball and since he's a good shooter that helps there too. The problem with Livingston or MCW in Detroit is that neither can really shoot the ball. I'd have more faith in MCW developing a shot since he's younger.
