Everything Joe touched in the beginning (other than the Draft) turned to gold.
You can't say all those players did it on their own...it was the combination of management, coaching, environment etc
As that team neared it's end (long after Mr D refused to pay the tax) Joe couldn't make a good move...
He failed to do his job! As GM its his job to make the moves required to maintain success long term...and once it vecame obvious we were declining Joe screwed everything up.
The moves are documented everywhere....not gonna go through it again.
Anyway, I was kinda hoping this thread would help identify free agents...
Length, speed, D, shooting, rebounding...
Guys who tick multiple boxes should be the priority.

Re: Recipe for building a championship
Good direction indeed.
Would like to see two more categories added to the grading matrix...
* Efficiency
* Compatible
There are solid players that may be obtainable but are not necessarily compatible with the current mix
Likewise there are good scoring wings that are more about volume vs efficiency.

Re: Recipe for building a championship
Now that we've got SVG I think we can look toward free agency with a better idea.
Moves I'd like to see:
S&T Stuckey to Washington for Martell Webster
Sign a bought out Jameer Nelson as back up PG
Sign Wes Johnson at SF
Drummond, Monroe, Jorts
Monroe, Smith, Mitchell
Johnson, Webster, Jerebko
K.C.P, Singler, Webster
Jennings, Nelson
Bynum, Siva and #8 also on the books

I like the ingredient we just added. Hot tempered SVG will spice things up for us.

Re: Recipe for building a championship
We need to establish a clear identity and stick to it. SVG will do that and has shown he will not back down or let players dictate how he coaches the team. Throw in the fact that SVG now has no GM/Pres hovering over him and we are certain to have a clear direction, philosophy and identity on this team.
What exactly he decides our identity is going to be is the question now. Everyone relates SVG to the 1 and 4 scheme he ran in Orlando, but he ran a very different offense in Miami that catered to his personnel. My guess is that he will base his scheme entirely around the players he feels are in this teams future. He does have a history of getting the most out of his bigs and playing very tough defense so we should expect that if nothing else.
My Prediction:
- We resign Moose and fully commit to building this team around him and Dre.
- We cut ties with Smith at all costs.
- We Draft a SF, PG or Back-Up PF/C based upon BPA.
=My Big Board=
1. Wiggins
2. Parker
3. Exum
4. Smart
5. Saric
6. Emiid
7. Gordon
8. Randle/Vonleh
- We sign players that can shoot and play defense that fill whatever holes we have after draft
- We sign an additional play maker to pair with Jennings/Rookie PG, because SVG always has at least 2 playmakers in his starting line-up. (Hedo/Jameer and Wade/Jones)

Re: Recipe for building a championship
I honestly don't think we're too far away from being a good solid team.
A solid team defense will really help us...
A shooter or 2 to space the floor...
The drama we're likely to have is a lack of leadership on the floor and in the locker room...and that's hard to acquire in free agency considering those guys will be new to the team.
I could throw out a list of unfashionable/unpopular names that would be laughed off but there's no point.
Our needs are obvious...but thank Gores for SVG! Finally feel like we're heading in the right direction

Re: Recipe for building a championship
according to my research teams that score +100 pts and allow>100pts in 16 playoff games win the title.
So therefore you just need to build a team that can score 101pts and stop other teams from scoring 99.
