I love it. Obviously, he will not have say in basketball personell. He is more a face that will be present at most games (unlike Gores, or perhaps to 'sit in Gores seat') which has been a criticism of ownership.

I'm most excited about the recruiting potential we may now have. Players today love Isiah and have the highest respect for him. With a young superstar in Drummond, a top 5 coach in SVG, max money to spend, and now Isiah to recruit, if we can't get stars here now then we never will.

Another excellent point. I agree that he can help with the free agents...players always have seemed to love him (post-playing days).

Jay-Z is also known worldwide by people of all ages. Isaiah Thomas, not so much.

There's nothing not to like. It brings a former star player back into the organization, while giving him no power or responsibilities. I also don't understand the reasoning behind not wanting Magic involved. (Is there something I missed?) I get that he was a "rival" to past Piston teams, but the guy is an NBA legend. Who cares, if he could join the organization in a similar fashion, I'd be all for it. If you're hoping Isaiah Thomas is going to do much good recruiting free agents, but you're opposed to bringing in Magic, that seems kinda silly to me.

Edit: Chuck Daly was the coach, and wasn't there someone from the Pistons front office working in a similar position for the olympic team?

I'm liking this even more now. Maybe Laimbeer as big man coach if they don't keep Rasheed?

Its hard to see he and Stan's personalities getting along as coaches though.
