I agree, I think its time for us to part ways for better or worse. I can see Stuckey being an effective bench player somewhere and I am willing to accept that he will enjoy some success somewhere outside of Detroit, but its time to move on from him. He cant consistently shoot the 3 and thats something this team needs from a perimeter player

Stuckey is chasing the biggest payday he can find. Period. He could care less about winning.

Luckily Joe's not here, and I can't imagine SVG blowing money on a shooting guard who can't shoot and has a loser mentality.

Thank you! I don't know why everyone suggests sign-and-trades involving unrestricted free agents. It's stupid. No one does a sign and trade if they can just get a player out-right.

Which is why I suggested a scenario of a capped out team that CAN'T just get him outright.

His cap hold makes it difficult for us to sign anyone we actually want until the S&T is completed

IF a S&T could be executed quickly and IF we were getting back something of value then sure...try a S&T.

It's an unlikely scenario though.
Renouncing him immediately is a much more likely scenario as it opens up more options for us

Stuckey played really damn well for a lot of this season. He has a good role as a backup 2 on a good team, if there was more shooting on our second unit (and no will bynum) i'd have absolutely no problem keeping him around.

Dude I wasn't speaking to the LIKELIHOOD of it happening. FFS, I wasn't even responding to you. My post was to address the previous poster who said it's not necessary if a team can sign him outright. My scenario spoke to if a capped out team wanted him. Not that hard homie.

You can renounce your own FA and still be able to S&T him. How is Stuckey right now? For all the talk about Stephenson's pending FA status I haven't heard anything about Stuckey. What kind of deal is Stuckey is going to demand?

Put down that lame horse already.

Stuckey has not been an asset for this team for several years. Could care less where he goes as long as its not Detroit.

This would be Stuckey's 7th coach here in 8 years if he stayed. Its probably him and not just the coaches. While its obviously been the coaches too and he's never had anyone as good as SVG, I'm ready to move on from the Stuckey Era regardless.

I still can't believe all we get in return for bearing the Stuckey era is some capspace, most frustrating guy in a Pistons jersey in the last half decade. Yeah, its not all his fault, but his inconsistency was truly mind-boggling.
I wouldn't want him back for free. Thanks again Dumars for not getting anything in return for this guy, could have traded him in december/january easily.

its sad that last year (apart from injuries) was the only season stuckey was sufficient at his position. the guy has never been the player we hoped he ever be so its deff time to move on from him.

Return to Detroit Pistons
