Questions about Josh Harrellson
Hi I am new here. Would like to ask a few questions:
1) How do Pistons fans (in general) rate Big Jorts?
2) With SVG on board, do you guys see big Jorts (a 6'10" stretch 4/5) getting more minutes? Team will need a big who can spread the floor a little like him, along with JSmoove, Drummond and Monroe
3) If he isnt signed this offseason, who do you guys think will be a good fit as replacement? via FA or Free Agency? I see Mitch McGary and Isaiah Austin as good replacement from the 2nd round in 2014 draft. But Josh Harrellson has better range and post D than the both of them by quite a margin. But we are talkign about the 3rd C anyway, so looking for upside there
4) Will Pistons likely pickup his team option?

I'd pick up his option, simply because when healthy he'd fill a role for us.
I think if given a consistent role he'd be well worth keeping

I was very happy with him last season, he needs to lose some weight though.

Re: Questions about Josh Harrellson
I would be a little surprised if Detroit didn't pick up the option on Jorts this summer. He was solid for his role last year, and his shooting ability would seemingly appeal to SVG on top of Jorts being a high character player.
The only way they don't pick up his option is if a situation arises where they need the roster spot to make something else happen. Even then, I would hope they cut Peyton Siva first.

I love jorts and hope they do pick up his option, but for some reason everytime he made a shot I just kept thinking its a fluke and he'll come back down to earth, but he stayed solid until he got hurt.Hopefuly they pick up his option and he continues to suprise everyone.

Loved what Jorts did here. It reminded me of pre-injury Jerebko. Draining open threes, hustling for every loose ball. I think Jorts might even hustle more than JJ used to.

Jorts did absolutely nothing wrong. Any team should want him as a deep reserve. Maybe as a 4th big.
He is clearly ahead of Tony Mitchell if I were deciding roster spots.

I'd be surprised to see him back. It isn't that he's done anything wrong etc. He's a servicable guy who can knock down open shots. I just don't think many of the fringe guys are going to survive the management change. SVG is going to want to bring in some players and there just aren't a lot of roster spots to do that right now and even fewer rotation spots. Something has to give.
Of course, if SVG pulls off some big trades during the draft, then all bets are off.

They have three roster spots now, assuming everyone comes back (except Chauncey, who I assume they won't bring back?). That seems like enough wiggle room for SVG. Hard to see how you could add more decent new guys than that with maybe $15m in cap space. Plus Jorts is the only real back-up center and he's playing for nearly the minimum. Not sure how you could do much better with the money and roster spot.

Josh is a SVG type of player in my opinion. I think he picks up the option.

Re: Questions about Josh Harrellson
We're a team that is in desperate need of 3 point shooting and also in need of front court depth behind Drummond and Monroe. Jorts is cheap, always plays hard, and can shoot from the outside. He's just limited in what he can do physically.
The guy is a perfect fit for this team. I really don't see any reason we wouldn't pick up his option unless we found a fantastic opportunity elsewhere and were desperate for cap space.

Re: Questions about Josh Harrellson
My guess is that they pick up his option, because its less then $1mil. Hes 25, some range, really big. Basically what you hope for in a depth guy. His contract is small enough to cut, if he doesn't make the team, without really affecting anything.
I think hes worth it as long as his cost doesn't get out of hand. i don't really ever see his role getting that large within team.

I like Jorts a lot. I used to call him the "Snatcher" when he was with the Knicks because he would frequently reach in and wrestle the ball away from the offensive player. He's a strong and gritty competitor with range who battles on every play. His intent on always hustling makes him extremely valuable in my book. I would love to see him return to the team.

Everyone loves jorts.
He plays hard and can hit a 3. Hopefully he's healthy for next season. He was getting minutes before his injury.

Eh. This is the type of move where, I don't really care if they bring him back, and I don't really care if they let him go. If they want him here, then I'm fine with it, but at the same time, if he's not going to play much, give the spot to a rookie or other young guy who can take something out of practicing with NBA level players.

Re: Questions about Josh Harrellson
Count me as another guy who loves Jorts and would like to see him kept around. It's a real shame that he got hurt, but then again he might have been able to derail the tank by winning us just one more game.
