My only reason for wanting Smith off the team is, to shut the pathetic crybabies up.

Boston Fans would give us #17 (wallace) for Smith. No reason to give a 1st when he can fetch a 1st.
If only Danny Ainge were as clueless as most fans.

I would bring Smith off the bench before forfeiting a first round pick- they're too valuable to surrender for cap flexibility. Any Pistons fan should be absolutely aware of that now. Only idiot GM's or legitimate title contenders trade picks for short term gains.
Joe D would tell you otherwise but I agree. Worst case Smith is the highest paid sixth man in pistons history.

Re: would you trade a first round pick to get rid of smith
Not as a straight salary dump. But i would give in to his negative value if we could.
For example if it got us a 4th/5th/6th best player on a team type of guy. Or if we gave next years pick along with him, which could be projected at about #10 at this point, to get a pick projected at about #15 (not neccesarily this years draft). That's what i mean by giving into his negative value. But i would not trade him for another expiring contract that wont play all year like what Maggette gave.
Trading him with next years first to someone like Boston or Sacramento for their first round pick and a less than ideal contract makes sense to me though. Then take Marcus Smart and let him force Brandon Jennings out of town over the next year or so. Singler has some decent trade value that i wouldn't be against throwing in if it got us a strong pick in this years draft.

I still believe that the right coach would get a Smith/Monroe/Drummond frontcourt and/or Smith at SF to work.
/ducks
Worst comes to worst, Smith comes off the bench and we exclusively play all three in the post with 32 minutes apiece.
