From everything I've seen on SVG he values skilled players.
I believe it when SVG speaks about loving what Monroe csn bring on the offensive end:
You can run the offense through the high or low post with Monroe. In time he'll make excellent decisions with the ball in hand...and he's an unselfish player.
We all marvel at the Spurs and their offense...it's based on ball movement and unselfish players!
Yes there are defensive issues with Monroe - but SVG has made it work with poor defenders before, even at PF.
Irving? I know we're crying out for quality PG play but Kyrie is not the answer...and we probably couldn't get him without burning too many assets AND cash for his extension.

I keep hearing he wouldn't resign here but what if Drummond develops into a superstar next year and we win close to 50 games? If he got the minutes, the touches, and got the money he wants, he'd stay.

Why trade trash for trash with a worse contract?
Addition by subtraction, and the trash coming in is significantly better than the trash going out, whether he plays or not.

For all the flack Monroe gets for not contributing to winning for this franchise, Kyrie (who is an all-star) hasn't done much to change that franchise around either. I love the double standard. But I'm not a shallow and context-less person so yes, the Cavs are a mess and Kyrie can only do so much.
CLE hangs up the phone on any asset Detroit tries to sell them on. It won't happen, same thing with the Bosh talks of last off-season, the CP3, PJax, and Melo. Please stop, let's keep reasonable discourse.
Depends on which poster you're talking about, DBC. I like Monroe, but I won't hesitate to point out his many flaws.
The difference between Irving and Monroe, to me, is the attitude. Irving seems to have a defeatist attitude, whereas Monroe has been a consummate professional despite Detroit constantly being in a state of turmoil.
They're both talented and flawed players, but the mental approach is not the same.
But you are right- Detroit can't offer anything compelling to Cleveland.
Our resident contrarian, I think you know who haha.
It was just me pointing out a flawed reasoning from way back since I saw that he posted he wants Kyrie despite the fact that we have nothing to give.
And yes, Monroe has been nothing but a professional since he was here, I dare someone find me sources and good reasons saying otherwise, instead of conspiracies.
