Re: What are the pistons willing to match for monroe
When SVG first was announced a national scribe reported that it meant Monroe was gone, I think it might have been Sean Deveany, where did he get that info? The all the local "reporters" started a concerted push back against that idea and since then SVG has gone out of his way to fluff Monroe. I wonder if the initial national report had inside knowledge of SVG's thinking, like maybe they talked about hypotheticals with the Detroit job or Stan mentioned in front of him (or his source) that Moose is a center and can't work as a PF or Moose and Drummond can't play together or something.

No chance we let him go for nothing. I'm confident SVG has a good plan. I can see him adding a 5th year with less money per season. 5/60 would be ideal. If he doesn't work out for whatever reason after this season then he'd be easy to move at 12 a year.

5/60 is not happening. David Faulk is his agent.

We wont give him a 5 year deal because that is already reserved for Drummond. Some rule that you cant give it to two of your own players.

I think you can only give it to two. So Drummond and who else? Save it just in case? I can see how that could put Monroe off a bit - especially with KCP struggling as a rookie and us losing our draft pick this year - who is the second max max player here?

That report came out super quick, I think right after the SVG presser. I believed it then and still do. Monroe is our most valuable trade piece (since Dre is going nowhere) and I do fully expect us to either sign and trade him or match his offer and trade him next season. Either way, IMO he will be moved and we will receive a talented piece that is more of a fit for this roster.
I know a lot of ppl. love Moose, but I just don't see him as a fit for this roster. Give me defense, athleticism, and three point shooting all day. That's just me though.
