WIz want to keep Gortat since he'll likely be cheaper and more or less just as effective as Monroe as a big. I think we'll be fine tbh, the only darkhorse I see are likely the Lakers making some desperate move or Phoenix but they have Bledsoe's RFA to worry about too. With NOP most likely out of the picture, the view becomes a little bit more clearer.

They're not going to trade a future first for Asik (and his ~$15 million salary this year) without trying to sign him to a long-term extension. Davis being able to play both PF and C effectively with Anderson and Asik rotating at one of the other spots is as near of an ideal situation as you could plan. If you're not a fan of Asik your opinion will be different but I think he's a damn good defending and rebounding center regardless of how many minutes he plays.

I am sure they plan on signing him to a long term extension however he hasn't agreed to one. My point is i don't think NOL abandons their plan for Moose because they have asik. Ryan anderson health has also been a question, this might provide some insurance

NOH may have never even planned to pursue Monroe. They certainly will not now that they have Asik, still have Robin Lopez and Ryan Anderson. They will not give up assets for bigs when they are set in that department.

Monroe will be a Piston next season.
