Pistons officially waive Siva and Harrellson

I think everyone saw this coming....

Our roster sits at 16 now, who does everyone think will be traded &/or waived? Initially I would have said mitchell is getting waived but if they were going to why didn't they announce it with the other guys?

Hopefully a trade is on the horizon!

Mitchell should be the one waived if we can't work a trade. He makes less than 1M and hasn't shown too much growth.

I agree but as stated above, why wasn't he waived today with the others? Doesn't make sense...

Gray over Harrellson is questionable... hopefully Stan did the proper research.

Dang, good luck to these guys in the future.

I'm going to miss Siva, a good guy too.

The others had non-guaranteed contracts. Mitchell's second year is guaranteed. So we saved money waiving Siva and Harrelson. That won't be the case if we waive Mitchell. I'm sure Stan is hoping that he can move him before the roster needs to be finalized, however unlikely that might be.

I understand the financial side of not releasing Mitchell now, but if we don't want him on the roster, we should just cut him anyway. Give him a chance to join someone else's summer league team and try to earn a camp invite.

I would've much preferred Bynum be gone over siva, and especially Harrellson.

Bynum might be gone anyway via a trade. This is just step 1.

I would have kept Harrellson over Mitchell.

I would have kept Siva over Bynum -- but SVG probably couldn't find any takers for Bynum so he was forced to let go of Siva.

I knew Sivas and harrellsons contracts weren't guaranteed, but my point was if Mitchell is being waived surely it would have been done today with the other 2 guys.

The Orlando summer league is over and Mitchell didn't really show anything. SVG would know everything he would need to know in regard to mitchell so his current presence IMO means he's being used in a trade or maybe SVG wants to play him in the d-league another year?

^ I don't think Mitchell not being waived today has anything to do with his roster security.

Mitchell is owed guaranteed money, so he will by waived if and when we need to (if there are no trades and we let Monroe go, we're at 15).

There's no benefit in doing it any earlier just because you waive two non-guaranteed guys.

I liked both these guys :(. Harrellson was a productive player as well, don't think he deserved to be cut. But that's the business.

really wanted to keep jorts,a big who hustled and could hit the 3 and was a nice backup at center,he must of had more serious injury problems than was let on.

I thought JORTS was injured and that's why he wasn't considered a viable option.

I don't believe they'd have gone with Gray if Harrelson had been able to play, but alas, that's how it goes. The writing was on the wall for JORTS the moment Gray was signed.

Pretty much this, he has a serious back injury that has kept him out. He's a borderline bench player who is inconsistent. i have him over gray, however if he can't play,. he's wastin roster space

I just think the Pistons needed a true backup center. Jorts is definitely a stretch four. Wish him the best. Siva had no shot. Personally wish he was a draft and stash guy and see if he could develop in Europe.
