Absolutely not with Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings on the roster.

Even if we didn't have Smoove and Jennings, I'd be hesitant to sign him he couldn't even get off the bench for the Heat when it was clear that nobody outside of LeBron could score. He's an okay scorer, but he isn't much of a playmaker and is brain dead as a defender and couldn't be anything but a negative influence on our younger guys.

Why?

We've got Singler, Butler, Jerebko, Datome, KCP, Martin & if we're really desperate Smith that can all log some minutes at SF.

Unless you believe he'd play some PF for us, in which case we likely have Monroe, Smith, Jerebko & Datome.

So, next year Brandon Jennings is an expiring, Caron Butler is unguaranteed, we have the option of not extending a QO to Datome, and Jerebko, Martin, Gray come off the books. After we deal with Monroe, we have:

We'd have:
Augustin/Dinwiddie
KCP/Meeks
Singler/
(Monroe)/Smith
Drummond/

That's it. With the potential to have seven openings, next season could be a far more appropriate time to discuss adding Beasley. Now, of course, the roster is full and we're heavy at SF regardless.

Reading the thread title made me throw up a little.

I think this is a great idea. We should also hire Oliver Miller to be our dietary, strength and conditioning coach. Bring back Ben Wallace and make him our shooting coach. Bring in Muggsy Bouges to be our big man coach. Hire Ron Artest or whatever he is calling himself now to be our mascot. Make Lamar Odom the team doctor and give him an endless supply of prescription pads. Put Stephen Jackson in charge of Palace security. Trade for Kendrick Perkins so he can tutor our PG's. And finally let's just change the name of the franchise to the Auburn Hills Clown Shoes.

I'm starting to come around to this Dave the Pothead guy myself. Undrafted, right?

Talented scorer with a skill set to dominate, but too stupid and indifferent to keep himself from sliding into mediocrity. That's not a good fit for our team going forward. :nonono:

No please.

I wouldnt mind signing Beasley to a 3 year / 5M deal similar to what Datome's getting paid. 3rd year could be a player option.

?!?!?! You realize he was lucky to get a league minimum contract last season? And that the Suns had to flat out waive him and eat two years at around the rate you're talking about signing him to?!?

Beasley is literally one of the worst players in the entire NBA. That is not hyperbole. He destroys offensive flow, he takes the stupidest shots anyone has ever seen and he is one of the worst defenders in league history. He would be better off just staying at half court on D, that way his teammates would know they're playing 4 on 5 rather than get ambushed when Beasley stands flat footed for every rotation and back door cut.

Look at those on court/off court splits. He made Miami significantly worse on both ends when he entered the game. He played a huge portion of his minutes with LeBron on the court beside him, and even LeBron, in all his glory, was not good enough to eclipse the profound suck that is Michael Beasley.

He literally plays worse defense than Jennings, Smith on perimeter, and Monroe combined.

All he can really do is occasionally get the ball inside the hoop, and that's if he's feeling somewhat motivated during that minute.

If Lebron, Wade, and Bosh couldn't get through to him, what makes you think anyone else can? Not even the Spurs can turn him into a non-knucklehead player aka how SJax melted down.

To take on a problem player, you need a solid foundation, in which to work with. We do not have that yet. Rasheed fit in so well with the Pistons, because we had a pretty solid foundation to begin with.

Give this team time.
