Grantland's Pistons Preview

Post#1 » by tmorgan » Wed Oct 22, 2014 11:19 am

Just in case some of you basketball junkies aren't paying attention:

http://grantland.com/the-triangle/bill-and-jalens-2014-15-nba-preview-detroit-pistons/

Thirteen minutes of Pistons discussion. I know a lot of people dislike Simmons, but Jalen's a local guy, and he always brings the Pistons enthusiasm.

Actually, I just watched it. It kinda sucked. Whatever. It's still the Pistons. :-)

Watched it last night. A little bummed Detroit only had a 12 minute segment, while Minnesota's ran for over 20.

I enjoy Simmons' season preview, I'm glad they brought it back this year.

I lol'd when Simmons dropped his "Rondo to Detroit" line again. He's mentioned Rondo getting traded to about half the teams they've covered so far.

There's approximately a zero percent chance Rondo gets traded to a SVG-coached team. The last thing he wants is another player that can't shoot outside of 5 feet. Bill knows this.. he's just being his usual homer doofus self.

"Do you think Danny Ferry is jealous of the possibility of Detroit starting Aaron Gray and Kyle Singler together?"

I'm sorry, that was really funny.

Pretty disappointed with our review. I think a bit of it has to do with us being 12th on last year's rendition so with not much roster turnover they aimed us on the low end. On his podcast not only simmons but also Zach and a gambling expert wants to take the over on the 36.5 wins vegas line saying they "can't see a stanvan team go 35-47."

Simmons is good value but Zach Lowe is gold!

Grantland as a whole is GOAT

With that said, they have ranked us way too low after they ranked us way too high last season

Grantland is excellent entertainment. if you tip the scales beyond those expectations, the reality crashes hard.

Still, I agree with Jalen: Pistons will make the playoffs. I understand the media's wait-and-see approach with the Pistons, but Pistons had playoff talent last year, even as an imbalanced roster, and now they have a playoff level coach.

And still surprised at the Brandon Jennings love, but the logic is hard to argue with: SVG worked wonders with And One. So now with Jennings...

If you like listening to/reading what a crybaby fanboy (Bill Simmons) has to say, then yeah, Grantland is the place to go.

Bill Simmons isn't the only writer on Grantland
