Positional Battles: PF

Andre Drummond is a beast and the franchise player. Monroe is good, but DOES NOT complement the franchise properly. You guys need a PF with range on his jumpshot. So SVG can play the way he likes.

You guys need to go after Millsap. He's the perfect partner for Drummond. Veteran, scorer, jump shooter, savvy, consistent.

If your two best player don't mesh, it doesn't matter how good they are.

Just because SVG surrounded Howard with shooters, it's not a guarantee that he's planning to do the same thing with Drummond. We had absolutely no 3pt shooting last season, so the signings made since his arrival shouldn't be looked at as anything more than just improving the team's ability to hit an open shot. People are quick to forget that when SVG was in Miami, the team was built differently. He's not a one trick pony. And if he was, neither Monroe or Smith would fit that mold, yet he appears to be comfortable with both remaining on the roster.

Correct. Which is different than the 1 in 4 out strategy that he used in Orlando. I think too many people assume that he's set in stone using just that scheme. He appears to be far more flexible than that, and he's more than capable of using whatever assets he has available and building off of them. I don't think he came in with the plan to strip this roster down to KCP and Drummond. Instead it's more likely that he's well prepared and has plans and schemes for all sorts of scenarios, some of which include any combination of Monroe/Smith still being on this roster.

No I'm pretty sure he plans to find a 4 that can shoot well enough to give Drummond room to dominate in the paint. Just give him a year or 2.

I went with Josh Smith, assuming Monroe signs the QO. Smith HAS proven he can somewhat thrive when given a coach who understands his deficiencies. Monroe signing the QO, to me, shows he's NOT coming back, regardless of what he says. I'd just assume start the guy who has a chance to be here longer term.

Preseason and these first two regular season games should make the obvious clear to even the biggest Smith fans- Greg Monroe is currently our best PF and player and should be the starter.

I have no clue how Smith won this poll- he's currently shooting 37% from the field, is 0 for 5 from 3 and averaging a paltry 6 boards in 33 minutes of play with little to no defense
