I'd like to see how we do with Monroe playing. Smith doesn't have to be a starter...Problem solved? We'll see.

Smith and Jennings
for
Dwill and Teletovic (would be awesome next to Dre at times)

Or

Smith and JJ
for
Thompson and Landry (Try for DWill instead but not sure)

I really dont mind Deron but I'd rather start with a clean slate than take on damaged pieces. Also I dont think the Nets are willing to give up Teletovic for nothing. He is also expiring and we wont have money to resign him next summer.

Gores was going to pay Smith 13.5M this year anyways. KG is only owed 12M. Once the trade is made we ask KG if he would like to come off the bench with our team and mentor Monroe and Drummond or if he would like to be bought out. If he wants to stay he can come off the bench. If he wants to go to a contender or would rather just retire even, Gores cuts him a 12M check, saves 1.5M in the process, and we all move on.

Jennings / Augustin - Dinwiddie
KCP / Meeks
Singler - Martin / Butler
Monroe / Jerebko
Drummond / Anthony

I don't buy Brooklyn as an option. I think Prokorov assumed he could just throw a blank check at his team and win. Now the team is losing money hand over fist and there's no prayer. Now there's rumblings Prokorov wants to sell. Trading expiring deals for one of the worst ones in the league is not the play if you want to cash out.

Smith is horrible, losing him is addition by subtraction. I cant' believe that SVG didn't move this loser when he could've. That being said, now that we know that Smith is just the same old Smith and can stop pretending it was because he was at SF and that SVG can fix him, we should dump him for whatever we can get.

He is a detriment to the team.

Gerald Henderson and Gary Neal for JSmoove works in the trade machine.

Kemba
Lance
MKG
Smith
Al Jefferson

Do it MJ!

Josh, Mitchell for Gerald Wallace, Bass

Celtics turn Wallace's contract into Rondo super friend Smith. We save $16 mil in future money and eliminate the Smith headache while adding a guy with SVG ties in Bass at backup PF.

I like the Celtics deal but why not expand it even further

Monroe, Smith, Datome, Singler
for
Wallace, Green, Olynyk/Sullinger

We get a starting SF in green and a replacement for Monroe/Smith depending on who the Celtics want to give up

Jennings - KCP - Green - Olynyk/Sullinger - Drummond

Brooklyn owe Boston multiple first round picks so are probably motivated to make moves that keep them competitive for a while

Deron, KG or Lopez would be the play

Highly unlikely we can find a suitor for his absurd contract. As I said back when we made the colossal failure in signing him, we are stuck with him.

If it continues on the nightmarish path it is headed & does indeed cost us Monroe, this will be one of the darkest days in Piston history.

I can't help but echo this sentiment.

No GM can watch Smith play and convince themselves that paying that turd $13+ million per year for a couple more seasons actually helps their team.

Moose is likely gone this summer, why would he hang around for this mess of a team? It will likely get worse before it gets better.

I'm not going to condemn or defend Smith. He took 3 treys in game one, 2 in game two and 1 in game three. I think at least 2 of those were at the end of the shot clock.

Consider the possibility that SVG is approaching the issue (problem) in stages. First, bringing Smith inside the arc (barely), then gradually pushing him closer to the hoop. He has made it clear that Josh is most effective playing around the rim and that's where he mostly wants him. I can see Stan thinking if he can slowly move Smith's jumper in, foot by foot, that Josh will be rewarded both in terms of better percentages and a smoother (S'moover !) offensive flow for the team.

Just a thought that seems consistent with the way coach thinks. This, like so many things this year, is a work in progress - each game, each week making steady progress.

As Josh continues to play bad his trade value will soon plummet even lower than what it was in the summer

Most people believed SVG would make him a decent player not a net negative on a team

The more others in the league see SVG unable to change Josh, the less we will be able to get back in a trade, if we are even able to trade him at all

josh is still valuable bc he can defend power forwards who can shoot. greg cannot.

we dont have scoring wings

josh isnt the problem

Unless Smith has an outrageous incident, I don't think his trade value can get any lower. In fact, given time, I think SVG will get his value up.

I don't think SVG was too interested in dumping Jennings and Smith this summer. I think he really wanted to see what he had and see if he can mold them into what the team needs. But if things are still bad come trade deadline, I think he'll pull the trigger, unlike Dumars this past year.

There are 30 players who make more than Smith. Nobody is untradeable in the NBA - certainly not the 31st highest salary. If we're holding out for value, then yeah, we'll be waiting a while. If we just want to move him for scraps, some team will take a risk on him.
