Ive seen nothing that suggests Smith is a better PF then Monroe since hes been there. Smith cant shoot but he will shoot doesnt make him better. Monroe works for efficient shots and doesnt settle.

This has been my point since the day we signed him. Also my point on why Greg Monroe is very under appreciated.

The 1 positive from signing dumb & dumber, that I'm seeing everyday on this board is the sudden appreciation of bball iq & understanding on how vital it is.

Your logic actually suggests this. If Smith and Jerebko got hurt, you would start Monroe at PF? Why?

Did you not read my post about getting a NEW pf? Because it obviously means someone that isn't a Piston right now. And I see the confusion because I'm thinking long-term. But short-term, I don't really care who starts to be honest. Just get the damn wins.

Well, now you don't care... and you said that even if Monroe was better than Smith you wouldnt start him, but you want the team to win.

Okay, I'm just **** with you  . I think the evidence (Smith being too old, Monroe QO) points strongly to getting a new PF in the long-term. I mean, I also agree with you, because it really don't matter to me who starts between Smith and Monroe. They are still both going to get a ton of minutes. I imagine that SVG will change up the starting lineup a few times this year to try to find what works best... but a 3 game sample size is not good enough, and it is a 1 game sample size with Monroe's ELITE production off the bench (Seriously he'd win 6moy if he played like that every night off the bench). Plus it works out great for rotations because Monroe can come in for Drummond, then Drummond for Smith, and they all get to play together.

There has been some awful over reaction by what really appears like a starving fanbase on this board. Just got to relax and acknowledge that it is going to take some time yet :) 77% of the board afterall did vote that the team would win 35-43 games.

I also thought a ton of people were against Drummond/Monroe starting together in the offseason, but I also wonder how that pairing would look with guys like Butler/Meeks on the wings instead of what we had last year. So Monroe might be a viable long-term PF option. I really don't know now. It might be something SVG experiments with down the road.

If SVG can salvage Jenning's career for us this year, figure out how Drummond/Monroe, Drummond/Smith, Monroe/Smith, and maybe even some small ball rotations work, advance Drummond/KCP, while implementing his offense/defense schemes. I'll be happy

People remember the old Josh Smith from Atlanta - the guy who almost was an all-star. But that's not the guy we have now. 2 years ago, Josh Smith might've been a good power forward. But 2 years ago, Deron Williams was a top point guard in the league. 2 years ago, Andre Iguodala was an all-star. Hell, 3 years ago, Amare Stoudamire was an all-star.

The guy we have on our team is not the same guy you remember seeing play in Atlanta. It's time to move on.

Monroe is the better option at this point.

Yes I read it and it was cute, in the MEANTIME we have games to play NOW. There's no "new PF" on the roster. So in keeping with what this thread is actually discussing, the choice is between Smith or Monroe. And good job changing up saying you don't care who starts now. Way to stick to your guns chief.

Monroe has his faults but he should be starting. The sooner we trade the bonehead brothers the better. This team is still too full of one way players , altho I trust SVG completely as a coach I'm not sure he's gonna be able to correct this oster anytime soon. I'm hoping we trade Smith and Jennings by the trade deadline ,I really don't care who we trade them for, as long as the contracts are shorter.

I said I can understand why some people might want to put Smith at the 4 is better than Monroe at the 4 because Monroe is more of a 5. I never said I want Smith to start at the 4. I said someone NEW. & I'm still sticking to that. And I said I don't care right now because I know there isn't going to be a new PF coming here anytime soon, so put whoever at the 4, bring us wins and I'll gladly shut up. You guys are only looking at portions of what I'm saying. Please read everything.
