I think Drummond is getting a lot of hate largely because he is getting so many one on one post up attempts and is clearly not polished enough to cash those in regularly so it hurts his FG percentage. Also, when he has a really bad looking one (not uncommon) it stands out more. I'm taking the patient approach with him all year as far as his post game goes. He has shown great improvement already (smoother hook shot, using his strength more), after having a literally non-existent post game, so I'm fine with him just getting 5-10 post up opportunities per game so he can develop. Defensively, he is just struggling with fouls and is still unsure about when to go for a block or box out. Sometimes he does neither though. Today he played great because he STAYED DOWN and didn't bite on pump fakes that put him out of position to rebound. He was very solid on the glass today and defended quite well for the most part. His offensive will come and his defense will only get better under SVG.

He looks like Dwight did when he started working on his post-up game. It looks forced, and just painful to watch.

It's kind of bizarre to me, because he's on the same team as Monroe, who is a fantastic post-up player and commands a double team whenever he's within 5 feet of the basket with the ball. How does Drummond go through 2 seasons having not have the slightest idea of how to operate down there?

How can Brandon Knight be on the same team as Will Bynum for 2 years and have zero ability to play pick n roll. At least Dre has the excuse of never getting the opportunity.

I think its painfuly obvious that we need to trade smith now if we have any shot of keeping moose,if stan keeps starting him and letting him shoot whenever he wants,it will definitly stain whatever chance we have to keep him.Not to mention,I dont want whatever smith has to rub off on dre.

I know alot dont want to here this, but we might have to trade smith with a 1st,maybe smith/1st-for jackson/jones.

Its not going to be as easy as just trading him. We would probably have to package him with a asset like a draft pick as you mentioned but even then im not sure.

Whatever happens,I want to see stan address the issue of smith jacking up shots,It seems like smith is a jedi and is waving his hand over every coach saying(these are not the bad shots you are looking for, look else where )lol.

This is the first time he is actually being trusted to score in the post one on one. SVG knows that it will take time, just like Howard, and I love that SVG is fine sacrificing some possessions here and there to develop him. Dre's development in the post is what is more important long term. He's shown a much improved hook shot and some other moves here and there too. He is also learning to use his body more. It's unfair to get down on him after the preaseason and 4 games of finally getting consistent post touches for the first time in his career. I expect him to take the whole year to get comfortable down there. Patience.

I think you misinterpreted what I said. I said his post game is similar to when Howard started out. I'm not down on it. It's bad, and that's a fact. SVG is sacrificing possessions (and likely wins) to create the culture and principles he wants this team to adhere to. I'm perfectly fine with that approach.

We are on par with the Cavs :)

I think people recognized how well he defended Melo but as dVs said, when you play that poorly offensively it kind of cancels it out. I give Smith props when he earns it and he earned some for his defense and rebounding last night. His offense, on the other hand, was crippling to our offensive flow as usual. He needs to just be turned into the 4th or 5th option offensively and he would be much more helpful imo.

It's tough. There were a lot of missed shots inside of the paint that he usually gets. I wouldn't count him out of our offense yet. I know what he can do on the stat sheet and I really believe he can bring it every night. He just NEEDS to realize that he needs to take a step back, maybe 2. If he wants to win, I think eventually Stan will make him realize that that is what he must do. If he keeps playing the way he is, he's getting traded for sure. Role players would be better to have than him.

What worries me most about this team is Monroe is gonna get PAID. There's just that vibe that it's not gonna be here, especially with smith hanging around. On top of that, we're unlikely to trade smith because no one wants him and we may need him if/when monroe leaves. We are trapped. It'll be years before real change is noticeable.

Also...brandon jennings

I think we've seen real change already. We are playing in a structured system so far, as opposed to that street ball garbage Cheeks was preaching, and our defense has been miles better than last year so far. The only guy that I'm really down on is Smith. Yes, he's an idiot but we can still fine success despite him being around. Also, Jennings has been fine imo. Sure, his numbers are low but he is doing what we need him to do and that's give strong effort on defense, make sound plays/run the offense, and take care of the ball. If he can start knocking down the outside shot (former 38% 3point shooter) then he will be perfect for us. The only time he gets a bit out of control is when we are down big and he is trying to make something happen, which I'm fine with usually since we need a huge scoring punch to have any chance to win those games, something Jennings has been able to do in the past.

No to trading draft picks.. This team needs to keep our picks at all costs because we don't even know what we are yet..

Smith with another dumb* pass almost stolen

Monroe has nt been lazy at all this game. :banghead:

doesn't get back on D, and then commits foul, over runs the play, doesn't get back into it. He hustles when he feels like. Its the lack of that "hate to lose"

Well I love Monroe and felt he was auditioning for us. Whatever you want outside Anthony Shumpert Early.

Do you realize there's absolutely nothing on that team the Pistons would want outside of that trio for Monroe?

Yes but I am that annoying door to door salesmen that hags around all day waiting for someone to answer the door and by this dust maker so I can buy a bag of weed.
Now that we got that clear. Jason Smith and Andrea Bargniani are two shooting bigs that would compliment both Drummond and Charles Smith I mean Josh Smith

Lolololololol freaking hilarious.

It's funny you would mention Charles Smith. Since Josh Smith's insistence on shooting jumpers is about as successful as Charles Smith shooting layups against the Bulls.

Jason Smith and Bargnani have about zero value for me. About as much as Joel Anthony at that.
