There's a lot of subscribers to the Joe Dumars Overpay a Role Player philosophy here.

Clearly. I can't believe the comments in here. Draymond Green for 12 per, and there's more than one person walking the Earth that would gladly do it? This reminds me of the conversations before last summer's free agency where some people actually thought J.J. Hickson would get near max money. I mean c'mon man.

And yet people laughed when I wanted to give Millsap Smith's contract!

Doesn't help that half the board is UM or MSU homers. If some people had their way our roster would be:

Burke
Shannon Brown / Alan Anderson
Draymond / GRIII
Mitch McGary
Zach Randolph

I may be in the minority but I'd rather have Jimmy Butler than Green. As for the money, while $12 seems ridiculous, the Meeks level contract is a no brainer match for GSW. I think it's more ridiculous people seem to believe we can sign a 24 year old RFA who is a starter on one of the best teams in the league for a MLE contract.

If you had Tim Hardaway in there at SG, that team would win multiple titles.
I understand the idea behind Butler so much more because he's a SF/SG, not a PF/SF. Still leaves us with the problem of not having a legit shot creator off the perimeter... unless Butler or KCP could become that guy... Or if Butler is really capable of sustaining 19ish ppg on 50% and 39% from 3

Better yet, put the recently cut Kalin Lucas in at PG, start Brown at the 3, Draymond at 4, and Anderson at the 2.

Lucas
Anderson
Brown
Green
Randolph

We need a straight up scorer at the 3. Not a complementary player. We have complementary players at every other position. 5 complementary players isn't going to work in today's NBA. Specifically with the makeup of this roster.

yes - i want buckets at the 3. play functional position defense then get buckets on the other end.

as for Draymond - there will be a team offering him 10MM next year, probably upwards of 12 if the warriors make a deep run in the playoffs. He is young and makes good defensive adjustments from game to game, figuring out moves that opposition like to do and actually being disciplined enough to try and stop them.

lets just trade Josh Smith and Moose for Draymond, Lee and whomever else they want to get rid of and call it a day :)
