The argument being that Monroe should eat the opponent's bench bigs alive.

That almost makes sense, but he is leading the team in minutes AND shot attempts!

Leading the team in minutes and shot attempts is misleading though:Monroe missed the first 2 games - in those games KCP couldn't hit the ocean from the boat!

We're a work in progress. 5 games does not make a season

Leading the team in minutes is misleading b/c he isn't (although it's close). KCP is. Makes sense to me given the injuries, suspensions and the emphasis on defense.

There are some definite changes in shot selection too. Jennings and Smith led the team in 3PA last year. So far this year the distribution is dramatically different and looks a lot better, to me.

Player: 3PA

KCP: 28
Augustine: 22
Butler: 19
Jennings: 12
Singler: 12
Smith: 9
JJ: 8

Sorry for my error.
You know what I actually respect a defense first approach in playing KCP and Smith.

But I wonder if Meeks was available would we still be starting KCP.

In other words is it really defense first or vet-first. Him giving Singlers minutes to Butler is a good sign.

But as a Coach, I would hope that at sometime SVG would figure out that efficient post scoring is a good form of defense because it prevents fast breaks, and that long bricks help start fast breaks for the other team.

A shooter as atrocious as Smith that shoots as many long jumpshots as he does is a negative even if his defense is supposedly better. As a basketball mind that should be obvious to you.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

You would hope SVG would figure it out? What! The! ****!

KCP has been pimped by SVG since day one, SVG is a D first coach & his line up and substitutions show it!

Pretty sure SVG figured it out a long time ago dude

Ok. Well I cannot wait to see him prove it. The proof is with less long twos from Smith. Someone who is that talented should be shooting over 50%

You're waiting for SVG to prove he can coach?

Or are you waiting for Smith to stop shooting long Js?

SVG is the best coach this franchise has had since Larry Brown was here

And if you're waiting for Smith to stop shooting long jumpers you're in for a long wait!

Smith shooting long jumpers doesn't mean SVG can or can't coach dude.

we are last in 2p FG%
we are last in effective field goal %
we are last in total shooting %
we are 13th lowest 3p FG%
we are 8th lowest in assists

I think the problem is bigger than just JSmoove and his shot selection... although I cringe every time he shoots

just a side note.. we are also

3rd worst in steals
6th best in Rebounding :)
