Agree with some of the posters here.
Before anything else, Drummond needs to show us that he can be a force defensively. Defensive rebounding + Post defense. We desperately need that out of him.
Every one is already aware he is very raw on offense and it's going to take a while for him to figure out what he can and can't do on that end...ala Derrick Favors.

Re: Andre Drummond 2014-2015
Moose needs to be the focal point of our offense in the post, Josh Smith needs to focus on getting into the lane by any means necessary and being more of a facilitator, and Dre needs to get back to finishing off timely cuts and crashing the offensive glass. I understand that his post game is developing, but I really feel like he/SVG is forcing the issue with his development

But the thing is, drummond is an elite option around the rim when the court is spaced and he can play off of monroe. His efficiency takes a major hit when he's forced to create for himself.
It's almost like jennings last year. His inefficiency is taking away from all the positive things he does on the court.
The fouls are a major issue though...

And1 to that. I don't know what it is about Pistons fans but we generally have the weakest stomachs when it comes to a player's development, then we bitch and moan in retrospect when we trade that player and he excels, as if the majority didn't advocate (or were indifferent) for his departure in the first place.

Re: Andre Drummond 2014-2015
I don't think anyone has given up on him, but posters are starting to be more realistic. The reality is that he has a chance to be a very good player, and a perennial DPOY candidate at some point but probably not an elite superstar, which is fine.
Again, I'm not saying we -aren't- developing our young guys, but it's clear that it isn't the above-all-else goal like it is in Philly, Orlando, or Utah for example. I don't want Dinwiddie to play 30mpg and never suggested that he should, but 8 minutes played total over 10 games is a far cry for 30mpg. He's only played in 1 game. I'd personally like to see him get a bit more run that, even at the 2 guard perhaps. Especially with Martin and Meeks out, and with us not getting much from Singler and Butler.
I'd like to see Dre get some more offensive action that doesn't involve an iso post up to get him in rhythm. Pick and rolls, lobs, drop offs. Keep giving him post up opportunities, but mix in other stuff because right now it looks like he's completely out of sync.
KCP's development right now, I actually have no issues with. He's being given consistent mins and shot attempts, and although his averages aren't really very good, they don't really tell the tale. He's had some really good games and some awful ones, it's just a matter of being consistent now.
Pharaoh wrote:MrBigShot - developing our young guys doesn't mean playing Dinwiddie 30 minutes a game We're force feeding Drummond for his development. We're force feeding KCP partially due to injury AND for his development. Dinwiddie obviously hasn't earnt playing time over BJ & DJ so he's not getting much run SVG is developing a culture, while installing his systems, while force feeding Dre, while attempting to put other players in positions they excel (Jerebko, DJ, Singler, Butler, MONROE)
IMO wins and losses take a backseat to all of that...at least at this stage

I agree with your second paragraph. He needs to be doing more of the things that made him successful last season. Feed him some alley-oops. Or some of those nifty shovel passes in the paint where he can power his way to the slam dunk. Not only do those plays fire up Andre, they fire up the whole team. Let him succeed at the things he's already shown, with a smattering of low post moves to expand his repertoire.
