That's a promising young team that should go hard, can space the floor decently and has a ton of defensive potential.

I'll agree with what you said. But here's the thing. SVG doesn't tank. That just doesn't happen with him. So that means Mudiay won't get drafted by us. If anything maybe we can deal our pick and get proven PG like Dragic or Jackson. I'll take either ones and pay them. Butler should get big bucks in my opinion. Not a max player but near 10-12 million a year should do it. Green the same thing, 8-12 million sounds right. Again, the same can be said about Barnes, we could go after him. In my opinion, I'd throw big money at Harris. He's a baller with a great body for a SF. He can shoot with the best of them and he can take it inside. The first thing that we should do is get rid of Smith for an expriring. I don't know how. But I feel like we can get Nash for him. Hell, I'll even take Eric Gordon for him if it's accepted. This team still has a life whether Monroe is signed or not. Without him, we'll have plenty of money. But my gut says that Jennings is starting to get it. PG isn't our biggest issue right now. It's getting rid of Smith and getting a SF and we have plenty of options for that as long as we throw money at players. Tobias Harris, I want him. He's a good player that can flourish under SVG.

Lakers management and esp ownership is desperate for a playoff birth

We need to take advantage of how delusional they are ASAP

Draft threads already? Yo we are NEVER gonna get a top 5 pick you dummies. Plus w/ SVG here he not gonna let that happen. Our best bet is trading assets (Monroe) or throwing contract offers next summer on players who fit the system.

Stan is also Head of Operations so he would almost be blind not to realize how bad this roster is constructed. He could very well talk some sense into Gores.

A 4 year extension speaks a lot louder than any rumor that I read on the interwebs.

And I don't want McGee anywhere near Drummond. Smith is bad in his own right, but you call Smoove a knucklehead and want McGee around? Come on.

Jimmy Butler is the only chance of the 3 since both Orlando and SAS can handle the MAX contract. Chicago is different in that they are a large market team but act like they are OKC or Memphis and won't go into luxury tax and signing Butler puts them on the brink.

I know other teams will look at Butler such as Toronto and others.
If you were Butler would you go to the Raptors or Pistons and that isn't to insult the Pistons.
But would be joining a top team in the East versus a team that is rebuilding hindered with contracts of Smith, Jennings and Monroe likely leaving.

There is unfortunately no quick fixes to a Piston rebuild.

Difference between Detroit and Toronto is that Butler would likely be Detroit's #1 option on offense.

If the Spurs can't get Gasol as the Duncan replacement, sign and trade Monroe for Leonard.

Jennings
KCP
Leonard
Smith
Drummond

Then later on, trade Smith for anything at this point. Draft or trade for a starting PF.
