I think a more priority is having shooters that can actually make shots, and a close second is shot creators.

In order for us to turn around the franchise we need players that hurt after losses! Players that are driven internally...the best players in the world aren't born that way, they put the work in!

We have talent on this team but talent fails because it fails to work hard!

I totally agree with the premise of this post but do we really have talent on this team??

Aside from Monroe & Drummond there isn't much.. I mean, KCP is a very good defender, but what else do we really have talent wise if we're being honest?

I'd argue Jennings is talented! Shooting is off but dude can make plays.

I don't want to be one of those guys that blames everything on Smith but he's supposedly our #1 gun....he's a 3rd option at best!

IF we had a legit #1 option then Monroe/Smith and Jennings could fill the roles they'd be successful in

But we don't have that #1...and that ruins us

Jennings shooting was off at the beginning of the year when he was making shots, this now is his normal. He's never been able to shoot, it's not his strength.

We will never win with a guy like Josh smith but you are definitely right that of we had a legit #1 option to team with Monroe & Drummond this thing would be much different, light years.

It's why the awful decision making the past 2 years in the front office has been so awful to watch.

The question I ask is- how many "legit #1 option" players are there in the league? And, how many of them can actually be attained? And, my friend, what qualifies a player as a #1 option?

The only thing I know for certain, is that Detroit lacks a #1 option, and have a lot of guys that wouldn't even be the #2 or #3 option on a good team.

I'm sorry to be so annoyed Blkbird but over the Drummond hero worship- the only player at fault for Drummond's regress is Drummond. Drummond was called our franchise player undeservedly- he is barely better than Smith but because he's in his 3rd year and has a history of being good his lousy play has been excused.

No worries, its a debate, like i said, if SVG had your mentality Howard wouldn't be half the player he is. Fact is SVG who is one of the top coaches in the league, scouts, beat writers and even fans on this board see Dre's potential . Also why are we ignoring history and defining a player by 17 games all of a sudden?

Drummond is a rebounder and solid shotblocker- he has not shown that he WANTS to be more than that or that he's capable of more than that. These Howard/Drummond comparisons have to stop- Drummond is no Howard and is not likely to ever be. THere are no similiarites to them other than their height and athleticism.

A huge athletic big big that can dominate the paint and is raw offensively. Howard was compared to shaq, and that wasn't a good comparison. Your the one comparing them as a player, i merely comparing them as stated franchise player. The argument isn't if Dre is our franchise player, HE IS! or at least that is the impression our FO is giving the fan base. With that in mind, if that is our franchise player, why aren't we focusin on developing him as quickly as possible much like Orlando did with howard. I would understand the resistance if we were a good team and it would cost us wins. well we aren't , we are losing, might as well get some benefit from it

You have to be Josh from the Pistons dot com message board... have to be!

Josh was a cool college kid who would argue his points diligently... whether right or wrong. He was respectful, but I rarely agreed with him.

Sorry for the mistaken identity.

i honestly hate having to reiterate my points, but sometimes on this board, simple reading comprehension can be a struggle. I don't mind ppl not agreeing with me, i mind stupid ppl . haha
