Dallas makes too much sense. Pair Moose with Brandon Wright. Or, Moose and Dirk. Not much D, but teams would have to pick their poison when guarding them.

could you imagine if OKC got Monroe? he goes totally against what they do as a team but that's a lot of talent.

a lot of playoff teams could use moose off the bench.

I would think he is a great fit they have a great defense a stretch 4 and he would be the 3rd option OKC sometimes struggle to score in the playoffs he would really help them get easy buckets inside.

I don't think it's that simple, and I don't expect Monroe's role would be very big on the thunder (or any playoff team in the west, really). I expect moose would essentially take over Kendrick perkins' role, just provide more offense.

Read on Hoopshype that Monroe wants traded badly. Pistons are telling teams that it will cost them a 1st rounder to get him though. Would be awesome if we could at least land a mid first for him.

I disagree Perkins and Monroe are totally different. Perkins is a rim protector and Greg is a scorer. I think they can let Perkins go cause they have Ibaka to protect the rim. I don't think Stevens is ready to start he would better as a bench big. Monroe would thrive from playing with two superstar players to take attention away from him.

while I think dallas would be a prime team to trade their first round pick (coach likes veterans, they're in 'win-now' mode, etc.) he really doesn't fit their system either. they have guys that space the floor and they play at a good pace. their bigs are essentially dirk, chandler and wright. chandler and wright are both mobile bigs who pretty much set screens and can finish at the rim very well. Monroe is not good at setting screens and certainly can't finish at the rim well.

bottom line is most teams are just too good defensively nowadays to just throw the ball into the low post over and over again. it's way too predictable and it's easy to double team down there, that's why most teams (especially in the west) pride themselves on lots of movement and lots of passing.

Fair point. But, that's not to say they wouldn't take Monroe for their 2015 first rounder and a whatever toss-in to make the salaries work.

Am I mistaken or was he offered the above type of contract over the summer and he refused it? I'm thinking 5/$12M will get it done but he might just ask for more. This team seem to be going nowhere fast so its likely he leaves. He took a QO so he might just take less money. I really don't think Monroe wants to be in Detroit.

Man, I wouldn't mind offering Monroe a 5yr/60mil deal even as our 6th man going forward. At least we'll know our front-court would be set.

We can't lose Monroe man! That's easy points in the paint!

Losing Monroe could actually help us long term. If I was the front office I'd throw big money at Dragic and Jimmy Butler. Well it also depends on who we draft. We could be fixed within one offseason. However, obviously, we need to trade Jennings and Smith. I think Jennings is for sure gone by next season. Smith might stay until his contract expires.

I wouldn't be surprised if SVG made a strong run at Dragic this summer. He definitely plays the way SVG likes- pushes the break when he can, knocks down shots, and can control the tempo of the game. His age doesn't really fit with a youth movement for this team, but he should still have some high quality years ahead of him.

Butler is a player every team in the league would like. It will take a max contract offer just to get Chicago to hesitate. I'm not sure Butler is worth that amount of money, or not. You can certainly make an argument though.

I'm pretty high on Tobias Harris as well. I don't know if he's stepping it up because he's in his final year, or he's just older and taking a step forward? He's also a RFA, so it will take a big offer to pry him away from Orlando, who are flush with cap space.

Well that's the nice thing. After drafting a high pick, we'd pretty much only need 1-2 starting spots filled depending on if Jennings and Smith leave. Monroe can go and we would've probably matched anything that he signed last summer. I say throw the money at other players. Give a guy 12 million a year. I'm thinking Chicago and Orlando would probably match that. But Golden State? Give me Green now!
