Pellies have $10M under the cap - so unless Monroe wants to sign a hometown discount or the Pellies make another trade to shave 3-4M off their cap they'll need to S&T with us.

They'll still be over the cap though. They would need to do a sign and trade. Which makes me think that this year would be a perfect time to trade Monroe to them. They're going for a playoff spot. We get something for Moose. Then they will have enough space to sign him in the summer. Then again, it just makes sense to do it this summer so Moose gets his 5 year deal

Only way that happens is in a sign and trade. They're capped out.

I'd take Ryno in a Moose S&T.

Asik's contracts come off the books this summer, no? 15 millions is what he's paid this year.

He's on the books for ~$8 million, but his actual salary is $15 million. The cap hit is much smaller, as a result of that poison pill contract Morey signed him to. Same deal with Jeremy Lin.

A S&T does not get you a 5 year deal. He still would only get 4.

Oh. Good to know. Then forget it. Let's deal him now for Ryno

for any trade that might happen Monroe has to consent to it, so at this point (anyone correct if i'm wrong, i'm no CBA expert) Monroe's options are:

- stay with the pistons until the end of the year, re-sign a contract under bird rights and gets that fifth year
- stay with the pistons until the end of the year, sign with another team for the highest price (w/o bird rights)
- get traded to team x, sign with either them or any other team in the offseason for the highest price (w/o bird rights)

I think the first option is the least likely, and to agree to be traded he would either have to go to a team he wanted to be with for a while or was a contender... but not sure any other team would want to make a trade this year unless they desperately needed Monroe this year, otherwise they could wait until the offseason to sign him anyways and not give up any assets.

Trade with the Pelicans, he can only agree with the idea to be back home.

To DET : Ryan Anderson, Alexis Ajinça, John Salmons.
To NOP : Greg Monroe, Brandon Jennings, Kyle Singler.

Then sign Eric Maynor or Payton Siva to be our 3rd PG.

Line-up:
Drummond/Ajinça/Anthony
Anderson/Jerebko/Tolliver
Butler/Salmons/Datome
Caldwell-Pope/Meeks/Martin
Dinwiddie/Augustin/Maynor

This summer, draft Karl-Anthony Towns and give a big contract to Jimmy Butler this summer.
Re-sign Ajinça and/or Anthony as a back-up C.

2015/2016 Line-up:
Drummond/Towns/Ajinça
Towns/Anderson
Butler/Butler/Martin
Caldwell-Pope/Meeks/Martin
Dinwiddie/Augustin
