This team is for real and I'll tell you why.

General NBA fan here paying closer attention to this team. The Pistons definitely have all the tools to be the Finals representatives of the East and here's why

1. Don't have to rely on the 3 - Unlike previous Van Gundy teams, this team doesn't rely heavily on guys to hit 3s.They will always be able to hit a healthy amount of 3s. Sure, you'll have someone go on a slump and the occasional slump from the entire team, but the reason they will always hit them is Monroe and Drummond take off massive amount of pressure off these guys. They have the offense inside they can go to which makes defenses commit to these guys.

2. Defense - The ****ing wall, and as a collective group they do a good job defensively. No point guard is too fast, no front court is too big, they can matchup against almost anyone in the NBA

3. Depth - Unlike 95% of the league they have a bench. Everyone knows how important it is to have a bench and they have it. At some points during the Mavs game the bench was outperforming the Mavs starters. All signs of having a high caliber 2nd unit.

Easily the most interesting team in the league right now and they have me hook. It's hard to believe that a single player could be such a detriment to a team and there's no reason to believe they can't reach the ECF. They are one of the most complete teams in the league.

Hawks will be our toughest of this stretch, they're rolling and are high in confidence just like us. Beat them and I'll believe.

I agree with whitehops not to "roll too fast" here, but I will say this — we keep playing like this and we're gonna be the team EVERY Eastern Conference playoff team is praying falls short of the post season. Seriously, we spotted the rest of the conference an 18 game deficit. Who's gonna wanna play THIS team — young, athletic, starting-to-believe-in-itself, with a beastly front court and an experienced, playoff-tested coach — in the first round? Nobody, that's who.

Yeah, the East is WIDE OPEN. If we make the playoffs and face a team like Washington(hell even Atlanta, Toronto or Cleveland) in a 7-game series, who knows.. Chicago is the team that scares me come playoff time.. not more than San Antonio & Dallas though!!

Honestly the only east teams I think are still better than Pistons are Hawks and Bulls. We could get to 5th seed
