Sounded like he wasn't happy about Joe trading him the first time either so...

He's been traded a few times now and hasn't been well informed once! That's poor form IMO - from all the organizations he's played for

The big problem here is the gap between how much he has left and how much he thinks he has left.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Completely agree with you here. He wasn't even in Memphis' rotation when he was traded. He couldn't space the floor at all, two steps slow on defense. Washed up. He had a nice little run for Boston, but that's too small of a sample size to make any kind of judgement.

This is simply untrue- Prince was shooting 46% from 3 for Memphis and 50% of all of Prince shots came from 16 feet out. Saying that he didn’t space the floor is a farce. Prince wasn’t in Memphis regular rotation to start the season but he was in the time rotation by the time he was traded. Memphis is one of the best teams in the league, lest we all forget. And, Prince was still a very good perimeter defender for the Grizzlies- not “two steps slow”.

I think a lot of people are projecting Prince as being washed up because he is 34 not because of his actual game play. He’s not the Prince from the championship teams but he is still a good 20-25 minutes rotation player. He is capable of making a greater impact than Singler did for this team, and her certainly has more gas in the tank than Butler does.

As long as he can hit open jumpers, not turn over the ball, and not make mistakes in playing team defense we'll be fine with Prince playing 16-20 MPG.

We'll see, but I'm not so hopeful. Despite all the talk about his percentages, Prince has only made 20 three's this whole year and 4 of them came in 1 game. He's been pretty efficient in low minutes and low usage, but that doesn't mean you can count on him for a much expanded role.

My major concern is the pace of play. This team needs to get up and push and attack. Even in his prime, prince was methodical and laid back. He's a much better fit on a team that wants to grind it out.

Nobody is projecting Prince to have more than a 20-25 minute role, not sure why there is any talk about him having an expanded role.

SVG has just said that he plans to start Prince according to Langlois, but I seriously doubt he gets starters minutes and don't expect him to have a high usage. He's coming to fill Singlers role, that's it. Nobody expecting miracles.

Pretty sure Prince said himself that he's not gonna play 35 minutes a game obviously, but he can still contribute 20-25 minutes

Stan says he hasn't made a decision on who starts tomorrow yet but is leaning on going with Tayshaun.

I look at it as Prince taking Martin's minutes. That's defintiely a good thing. Cartier has been pretty bad this season. I'm not sure if it's because of the injury earlier in the season but he's not contributing anything on the floor.

beleive in the system guys, where guys like kyle singler/Martin can have a role and be productive, so can a vet like tay. Defensively he may not be as quick, but he still has the iq, technique and believe if i recall length. Bron brons up next. i am looking forward to see what tay's got.

SVG said that Prince was going to play a lot... I personally believe He was re-acquired and paid extra for 6 reasons IMO...

1. We needed a reliable and proven SF.
2. SVG was sick and tired of the defensive meltdowns. Prince is an above average defender even in his senior citizen years.
3. SVG is clearly molding this team based on height.. Prince fits the mold!!
4. Prince has always been a vocal locker room presence. It hasn't always worked out for the best but it certainly did under the right circumstances and this might be one of those.
5. Prince was a big piece of our success and had many years of playoff experience on a contending team. If we make the playoffs then the CHAMPIONSHIP experience of Prince, Butler, Anthony should pay dividends.
6. To be a mentor!!

I believe in SVG's system. The addition of Tay improves the mental mistakes on D. I would like to think he's going to assist the team in modeling better habits on D. Right now we fall in and out of properly executing our team defense and doing so with max effort. Tay, as a coach on the floor, should fill that gap.

That being said, I hope we have no plans on resigning his complaining butt in the offseason. lol

I would also add that SVG has made this team a whole lot longer. Now we have 4 starters with winspans over 7 feet- Jackson (7'0), Prince (7'2), Monroe (7'2) and Drummond (7'6).

Good point Pop... when you put them all on the floor together it can make it hard for opponents to drive the lane... should be better in the passing lanes also.
