I am really happy SVG has shut down Greg Monroe, finally. He really is a genius. Cut Josh, shut down greg, and made the move of getting Jackson WITHOUT having to OUTBID for him in free agency. He makes the necessary moves when he has to. Truly, the man is an artist. A basketball God.

Then unfortunately Jennings went down. Reggie Jackson ruined the fit for Monroe but SVG was willing to try it because Monroe is unrestricted. Oh well, it's just basketball.
Jennings going down might be the worst thing that has happened to the Pistons since we signed Josh Smith. The level this team was playing at after Smith left was unbelievable. When he went down, it might have just sealed Monroe's fate of leaving, causing Stan to change direction and go for Reggie Jackson.
We were playing at a level that may have been enough to convince Monroe to stay before the injury. If Monroe comes back with a healthy Jennings, all we need is a SF, and we're in the playoffs. Continued improvement from the younger guys, and this team could have been close to contending next year.
Now with Reggie in, Monroe likely gone, we have more missing pieces. Hitting on 1 starting position is a tricky task in itself. Trying to hit on 2 starting positions (SF/PF), hoping Reggie remains on an upswing, and filling out the necessary bench role behind Drummond is a much more difficult thing to accomplish.
Stan doesn't have the luxury of doing this while the team is on the rise, with a few years of draft picks to stock the cupboards. He's in a position where he needs to put this team into the playoffs next year. That raises the stakes, and likely will lead him to making some riskier decisions in an effort to force the issue.
If Jennings never got injured, drafting a SF and letting a veteran mentor the youngster early in the season would have been a viable option. The team showed they could win with they had. If that rookie came around by his second season, we would have been in for a treat.
Now, we're looking to draft a starter, either at SF or PF and instead of milking it out of a vet, we need another very capable starter at the other spot. Asking a lot for a team that can't pull FAs.

He thinks Monroe was and is our best player simply going by stats, points and rebounds probably.
Assumptions based on nothing are always fun.
Monroe has been our best offensive player for a while going by stats, game film or just overall common sense.
The only real argument is that he's not a good fit
Which is a prehistoric argument thats been proven silly now by the duo's dominance together many times this year, especially post Josh when we went on that run. When we get wing shooting, these 2 are an insane duo. & even more importantly when we separate them & always have a post scoring option on the floor (this hasnt been maximized yet because aside from Caron, there isnt a consistent shooter on this team currently). Thats a luxury every other team would die for.
