Great character guy with a very high bball IQ, an old school big man.
If Detroit loses him its going to be a sad day for this franchise. & wherever he lands will be getting a phenomenal player.
Wing? The wing positions are the 2 and 3.
I agree Monroe has some great value if he's in the right situation and I'm sure if he leaves he will excel on another team and all of the Monroe lovers will talk about how we were so stupid to let him go. However, I wouldn't be terribly sad if he left us. Sure, you always want something in return but that may not be a possibility and I don't think he helps us that much playing the starting PF position.
Honestly, our defense just simply looks porous with Monroe out there. We know Dre can be great defending the paint at times but definitely has lapses defensively and is still not as disciplined as we would like him to be. This makes Monroe look even worse on defense because both of our bigs have a tendency to struggle defensively. When Monroe isn't defending the P&R and Dre isn't protecting the rim we get destroyed. It's that simple. I don't want to be an average to bad defensive team because both our bigs have defensive lapses. Additionally, Monroe has drastically regressed when it comes to his jump shot. He looks like a scared puppy when he's left open to shoot and only resorts to taking a jumper out of obligation. Honestly, If Monroe could just hit a consistent 15-18 foot jumper he would be good enough to keep around despite his defense but when he can't defend (other then his post defense which he is actually decent at) and doesn't spread the floor AT ALL then it's time to look elsewhere imo. SVG has proven to us that fit is more important than stats. With that said, the only way I want Monroe back is if he becomes our supersub off the bench at both big man positions. Other than that, pray that we can S&T him for something of value.
