I'm not really taking issue with the basic point of the post. Just not sure I'm following the math?

Average height listed is w/o shoes, so 6' 6.28" - 6' 5", SJ is a -1.28 inches
Average wingspan is 6' 11.1" - 6' 11.5", so SJ is a +.4 inches
Average standing reach is 8' 8.1" - 8' 6", so SJ is a -2.1 inches
Average weight is 216 - 242, so SJ is 26 pounds heavier at 7.5% body fat, which isn't super lean but is very good.

These are all draftexpress measurements so it is apples to apples.

I'd want to note that I'm not down on SJ as a prospect. There is a lot to like about him.

It is sobering to go back and look at past draft combine lists and note how few of these guys made any impact at all. The draft is pretty much a crap shoot.

Whoa Whoa whoa!!! Since when is 7.5% body fat not incredibly lean? You have visible abs at around 12-15% body fat. 7.5% may not be fitness model material, but it's very fricken lean.

 Of course it is, but among this very select group of athletes it's not exceptional. Oubre for example is around 5%. For that matter, take a look:

For most of us, it's super lean for sure!

And Oubre looks like a kid from a Feed the Children ad while Johnson looks like he could defend grown men right now in the NBA.

The hyperbole is cute, but we're really not in any disagreement. If you go to the draft poll you'll find that Stanley is my preferred guy of those likely to be available to the Pistons. The only reason I qualified his leanness is that had I not I felt sure someone would have taken the time to point out that of the 66 for whom there is a figure from the combine, 39 are lower than Stanley. (This was a quick count and these numbers are surely close but may be approximate.) Oh well...

7.5% body fat is right around the perfect range for a forward. having less means you're more susceptible to injury and having more means you likely have some unnecessary weight - which leads to unnecessary pressure on joints and such.

LeBron james came into the league at 245 with 7% body fat and he's been able to take a ton of punishment and stay healthy his entire career.

not comparing Johnson to LeBron athletically but there aren't many other comparable prospects in terms of their size.

This

Other than all the other reason's to draft SJ, add the fact that he's proobably the only SF prospect that can legitimately guard lebron in 2 years. (not that you can guard him,. but you konw what i mean). The size he brings at such a young age really makes you excited to see what he'll look like when he fully develops physcially

is that because you think he's too small to play small forward or because you think he's a good enough shooter to be a shooting guard?

too small to play the 3, if he were a knockdown shooter i'd consider him at the 3 or 2 but he's not. Just undersized and not very demanding of the ball in crucial situations.

Stanley Johnson has the NBA ready body to step in and play. I envision Johnson and Winslow as the two top SF in this draft who are ready to be inserted in the rotation of virutally any team selecting them. Right now Johnson is a solid 245 lbs and this is a kid who didn't start lifting weights until he got to college. I imagine with our training staff they could really leverage a ton out this kid making him one of the most conditioned athletes in the NBA.

SIZE: He's got good for the position and could move between the two and the three on a regular basis and possibly slide over to the four for the small ball lineups. He's bigger than Tony Allen (not a knockdown shooter) who guards 1s, 2s, and 3s on a regular basis. He's the same size as Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (not a knockdown shooter) who plays the three and the four. He's roughly Jimmy Butler's size, who played the 3 primarily in past seasons before he worked his way into moving up to the two.

Johnson is going to be a gem in the league. I hope it's with the Stones.

I'd draft Stanley if Winslow is already gone.
