But in the end, he got his money. Still though, he gave up a lot of money for it. Not worth it. I would've asked for a S&T if my team didn't want me. But I think he's that mature. Good man.

Smith should have been traded the day SVG walked into the door for anyone or anything and Monroe should have been given a huge contract. That would have shown commitment and if we wanted to we could have traded him later down the line

Monroe could have netted us Dudley and Henson or who knows maybe the Bucks who have Giannis and Parker were desperate for a center and would have sign and traded us Middleton for Monroe.

Failing to trade Smith (then paying him 5M to go away) while tanking our season and losing Monroe for nothing is SVG's biggest mistake so far as Pistons GM

You can't say that. Why? Because Stan needed to come in and see what we had on the team before making any moves. Had he saw Monroe play the way he envisioned the team to play, he would've gave him the 5 year max for sure. Had Smith's value not been so low, he wouldn't have given him a shot to regain his value. He would've been dealt. But we were at an all time low when Stan came in. He did something special here. Still can't believe it.

SVG's free agent signings have been subpar at best (Butler, Meeks, Martin)

He did find a gem in Augustin and flipped him along with using assets from Dumars (Singler) for Reggie Jackson that was a good trade. Tolliver was a good pick up as well.

He struck out in free agency and absorbed Morris (verdict still in the air on this move) but did give up a 2nd round pick as well, which seems weird since we took on 10M worth of salary.

Stanley Johnson is a big question mark as well. Even if Winslow didn't want to play for the Pistons if he turns out to be a much better player then we should have taken him even if it we needed to trade him later.

Last season we ended up in the same position as previous years, 8th pick and a few games away from getting 4-6th picks

Id say SVG is a solid C so far with room to improve based on his moves this offseason but saying he did something special is giving him a bit too much credit.

Supbar performance wise yes. But he hardly broke the bank to get those guys. Meeks had a pretty serious injury and was still recovering for most of the season. Butler was a veteran presence if nothing else which helped our young guys and played some solid games. Martin just had a horrible year, good track record with his shooting over the years but for whatever reason couldn't hit anything.

Cant take too much away from our record last year there was no continuity with the roster. We had 3 different point guards starting in 1 season as an example.

Stan couldnt of done much more to rebuild this team without Spending a heap or giving up assets imo

Obviously verdict still out on the moves this off season. but i think SJ will be a beast and love the pick

I was referring to his coaching when I said special. His offseason moves haven't been great at all. They've just been good and somehow really good since we didn't give up much if anything. His coaching is incredible though. I have no idea how he made Augustin look that great. His best move so far is getting Jackson. His next best move is Ilyasova. We got him for free... The last move he did was alright. All he did was solidify our SF position. Marcus isn't great and he's not good enough to start on a contending team but maybe a playoff team depending on who's surrounding him. But that doesn't matter, why? Stanley will start in a year and he's our future SF. The idea this offseason was to lock up the forward position for now and the future. That way we'd take 2 steps forwards instead of 1. For example, Harris would've started at SF then at PF with Stanley at SF. Instead, we got a back up SF of the future. BUT there's still next offseason AND we got great trading chips with Marcus/Ilyasova/Jennings...and that's when I realized how smart the move was. What do we know about his trades? So far he's been amazing with them. You really never know. We got Jackson randomly. What about another player his caliber at the forward position? Anything can happen. And if it doesn't, there's always proving the team is a solid Playoff team and sign a big name FA next summer.
