Ty Lawson to DET??

Couple of things:

1) I don't think people should be voting on this based on the assumption that Jennings will be returning as good as he was before. Its not just that history isn't on his side with the injury he has, but that the organization's trade for Blake is pretty indicative of the level of confidence the organization has.

2) Its my belief that they wouldn't consider such a move unless they thought Jackson and Lawson could play together. If you don't think that (and I don't), then that should impact your vote.

I don't think its accurate to think that they would simply use him as a backup. Heck, they might even try to start them together.

Jenning's health is certainly a question mark but I have confidence that he will return and be quite productive even if he isn't quite as good as last year. Lawson has plenty of question marks of his own though too. Also, I don't think the Blake trade is indicative of anything. Everyone knows that Jennings may not be healthy right at the start of the season so we need a backup plan if that's not the case. If anything it shows that SVG lacks confidence in Dinwiddie. As far as playing together with RJ, I think Lawson would fill the exact same role that Jennings would this year. Both would be a backup PG who will play with RJ (at SG) for short stretches at a time.

It would shock me if we ended up getting Lawson because we just paid Jackson and I could see the Lakers or Rockets paying more by like throwing a protected future first or something at them. Having Lawson fill the role Jennings is expected by many to have this season seems like a crazy idea though, he might be a better player than Jackson. If they started together ... who knows how that would work ... Don't forget the chemistry issues and we just added Morris ....

With Lawson now in rehab for a month this probably ends this topic for a while. The Nuggets will probably wait until he completes it and then raise the asking price now that they can prove he is working towards cleaning up. Effectively ending our interest once they start asking for a first round pick again.

Yeah, Rockets don't really care. They need a PG that can take pressure off Harden so they'll give the most out of anyone IMO. And the Lakers are also second in need since Clarkson and Russell are nowhere near the PG playmakers as Lawson is (9.6 Assists per).

The Los Angeles Lakers were the only team beyond the Houston Rockets to express interest in trading for Ty Lawson.

The Lakers can't offer a first round pick until 2020 at the earliest and may not have even offered a future first rounder for Lawson, according to sources.
