Coaches aren't going to let Dre face up which is stupid IMO. If he can knockdown a turnaround jumper like Wilt did or even Moses Malone, he'd average 20 ppg that some thinks will average this upcoming season. Lock him in the gym and let him shoot midranges all day with Hopla.
But nope, he's a bigman so that means post up or get yanked. Which I think stunts the growth of some of these big guys.

I always wonder how much of it is mechanical, and how much of it becomes mental? I remember SVG saying that he'd watch Dwight Howard sink 100 FT's in a row in practice, but come game time and he'd choke on the line.
Yea overtime he gets fouled you can tell he is not confident. But maybe if he changed his mechanics it would give him some more confidences in his shot.

And no, this is not solely based on the videos. He's been doing all of those fancy double clutches and weak layups since coming into the league. It's gotten better, but ideally he'd just try to dunk it every time he's under the basket.
Sheed: Listen young fella, if i ever see you double clutch that b* a* layup ever again....................i'm a show you why they called it the jail blazers.

I completely agree. And as big as Dre is, he's elite because of his speed more than his strength. Of course the combination is unparalleled at his position but his impact is mitigated by forcing him to play with his back to the basket. He has a natural nack for dribble driving (though he rarely does it). Add a midrange to that and bang. (This is something he actually did a bit at UConn. Guys are going to have to foul him if he's dribbling towards the basket and he's both quicker and stronger than virtually and C guarding.

I know Dre won't be scared to shoot mid-range like some other dude. I'm not sure SVG wants him to be doing that atm tho
