There's a wide range of opinion on what the Suns might want, if they're even looking to move him before they can try to stabilize the situation. What are you willing to give? I don't think something like Jennings or Ilyasova does it at this point.

Suns don't have much if any leverage.

1. They let Markieff play, seems that would go great not.
2. They let him sit on the bench and not get anything for him, not a bad idea
3. They trade him, but won't get much in return

Teams know he doesn't want to be there. If he stays he won't be happy. So why give up anything of value? Do you think the Suns will want to keep him around as a distraction? If they do that's just crazy.

Already made all these points previously but... what the hay.

The Suns have a lot of leverage over Markieff, they have 4 years of leverage and at a very reasonable rate. This isn't some vet who can force his way around by threatening to not resign. Markieff is stuck and at a rate that gives the Suns the ability to just sit on him if need be. Furthermore, he already was a distraction! All this "oh, but he will be a cancer talk" ignores that he and his brother were repugnant individuals last year. Unless he starts assaulting teammates and/or coaches then his current "show up and play but don't talk to anyone" would be an upgrade over last season's antics.

And finally, the other advantage they have in getting a decent return is that any number of teams could use him, especially at such a reasonable rate. There have already been a large number of teams rumored to be interested. Its very easy to get decent value for a team when teams have to bid against each-other. As opposed to when an impending free agent is forcing their way out and the team losing them can only negotiate with teams that player would be willing to resign with.

Will the Suns get the same value they could if Markieff was a saint? No, but if he was a saint he would be worth a lot more than a 1st round pick and a decent role player. But, despite his current situation, the idea that the Suns would have to settle for something like "a couple 2nd rounders" is absolutely laughable.

I said just sitting him is probably a good idea for the Suns. If that happens he is just going to rot. So why would anyone trade a lot of value for that? It is cool for the Suns tho, they don't let him get what he wants and probably ruins his career.

If they let him play I see a player that is going to hog the ball and take dumb shots.

You'll see whenever he get's traded he isn't getting much back in return.

FYI Phrazbit, most of us don't want Markieff here, and don't care what the Suns do with him. I for one don't want to take the risk of reuniting the brothers, and Marcus seems okay with being on his own. As to him being mediocre, well, that's a step up for us at the 3. You've been pretty reasonable about your points, and I wish the Suns well. Must be kind of slow over on the Sun's board?
