only legitimate concern is his FG%. If he can't bring it up from a abysmal rookie season, then i'd definitely take a 2nd look. Really curious as he was a good shooting pg in college for those Tru-shooting % folks

Right now he's a poor mans Rondo... and even Rondo ain't lookin' too hot in today's league. Shooting is at a premium and there just isn't a whole lot of getting around that. Lots of guys have developed shots after entereing the league as poor shooters (Bowen, Kidd, etc), but that's still far more the exception than the rule. Usually you hang around for 3-4 years as teams thing "if only..." before eventually washing out. Happened to tons of point guards who's names I can't even remember.

He hasn't had a chance for the game to slow down for him - and, frankly, there's no guarantee he'll get that chance.

However, if he gets the opportunity to play regular minutes game after game, I think he has the ability to be a good pro.

Look, he's behind Jackson, and at mid-year behind Jennings maybe, and before that, behind Blake. There's a good chance that he won't ever amount to anything in Detroit simply because we've got our starter. The franchise might opt to find quality NBA backups. Hell, Stanley Johnson might get a lot of backup PG minutes - perhaps even this season. Sometimes this league is all about whether the guy got an opportunity - and I'll bet there are plenty of quality NBA players who never got to be quality NBA players, if you catch my drift.

I think if he wasnt our only pick that year (and Stans first )people probably wouldnt care as much, a la guys like Kim English, Dajuan Summers, Tony Mitchell, Terrico White, etc of the past. We had lotto picks coming in with them so they were just 2nd rd afterthoughts that no one expected much from. In reality that is all Dinwiddie is too, but because we didnt have our lotto pick that year he kinda got propped up into being something more, and you never want to have a draft that produces nothing, so naturally people want to be more patient with him than you normally would with a 2nd rd pick. The fact is though he is still just a 2nd rd pick.

The hope for us fans was that he slipped only because of his injury, and he projected as a potential legit first rounder in what was supposed to be a deep draft. That's still our hope.

He might not make it. But, it's too early to know for sure. He might still make us proud.

Tentative is the word for Dinwiddie -- he's too passive. This offense needs the aggressive play of Reggie to work, and Spencer needs to play the same way if he wants to make it as the backup.

I'll go one further. Not only is he tentative he also doesn't know how to run the offense. He brings it up only to pass to the first person he finds, they look around for a few seconds, then he looks to start the offense, but does the same damn thing.

He just doesn't know how to initiate the offense, and combine that with the fact that he can't shoot it's disastrous because of his ineptitude in starting the offense he ends up shooting alot of shot clock running down off balance nightmares.

If he figures it out, it's not going to be for awhile.
